This is in response to your recent e-mail to MTA New York City Transit regarding individuals with tables blocking the passageway at the 34th Street-Herald Square station.

We regret if you experienced difficulty while using our subway system. Please be aware that the Transit Bureau of the New York City Police Department is vigilant in thwarting illegal activity in the subway system, and maintains an extensive police presence with officers patrolling our facilities at all times, both in uniform and undercover. Supervision in the Transit Bureau has been alerted to the conditions you reported at the 34th Street-Herald Square station, and will take steps to deploy their officers accordingly. In addition, personnel in our Division of Station Operations will monitor the location in question and any illegal activity observed will be reported immediately to field supervision and the Station Command Center via the Emergency Booth Communication System and/or the
booth telephone for appropriate action.

If you wish to report a crime, vandalism or harassment in the subway system, please note that you may report it to an MTA employee, police officer or contact the Transit Bureau directly at (718) 243-3441. Otherwise, you may call the MTA Police at (888) MTA-911PD (888-682-9117). You may also contact Customer Services at (718) 330-3322,
from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or write to Customer Services, 370 Jay Street, Room 702, Brooklyn, NY 11201, regarding any station-related issues.

Sir or Madam:

If possible, I was hoping to let you know that the Scientology cult was harassing people in an attempt to recruit them at the 34th St Station of the B, D, V, and F trains. They have been setting up their tables for several weeks in the passage that leads north to the 35th St exits to the station.
