As a girl, Deborah was sexually abused by her father and later by a Catholic priest. Like many trauma victims, by the time Deborah was an adult she was an alcoholic, addicted to Valium, promiscuous, and had an eating disorder. At 25, she was diagnosed with cancer. Reluctant to undergo invasive surgery, she rooted out the suppressed traumas that were the source of her emotional and physical illnesses and addictions, recovered from her addictions and healed herself of cancer. Leaving the world of corporate law, she entered the field of alternative medicine. After years of intense study with sages, shamans, and healers around the world, Deborah mastered ancient and modern healing systems and developed a powerful technique of her own.
Deborah wrote Truth Heals as a handbook for healing and reclaiming one’s best life. She holds live events across the country to help people connect the dots between what they’ve experienced and how they feel today. She also hosts a radio show series on Hay House Radio where she teaches the fundamentals of healing to those who wish to heal themselves and others.
Deborah founded the Deborah King Center to serve the needs of all those in need of physical and/or emotional healing and for those who help to heal others. She lives with her husband in California, where she enjoys swimming, horses, and going to the movies. She is working on a new book about the sanctity of the individual.
