[stylesmind.blogspot.com]

Here David Styles ADMITS PUBLICALLY on his personal Blog that he is involved with Temple of Vampires and the Church of Satan.

Of course he is trying to "spin" it so his followers don;t thnk its so bad - Unfortunatly he can't deny his involvement any more without making himslef look even more untrustworthy - It is TRUE the vampire/satanic link and he is admitting it.

So again - Why would any Cryoncist actually trust this person with being General Manager of Eucrio? How does Nuno Martins plan on dealing with this - nice advert for your company Nuno - A adept Vampire runs things for your ambulance service for the dead? Are CI and Alcor going to sever links with Eucrio? Are Imminst going to stop promoting his Bullshit? Has Alan Sinclair at Cryonics UK now got grounds to rid his organisation of the vampire cult members and clean up? Can Catherine Bawldwin at Suspended Animation carry on supporting eucrio with equipment knowing she is giving ot to Vampire Fanatics?

Why would any Cryonics Company TRUST David Styles at all. It onlly took a Chef playing @ sherlock holmes to get him to admit his cult links - What else is he hiding from his customers?

Ah the truth is nothing will probably happen - But at least the Cryonics marketing people are finally admitting they are into strange shit so the people that want to buy contracts know a little about what they are REALLY getting into.

From the Blog:

Quote

I am a member of the Church of Satan. This is a well-established international organisation of atheistic rational hedonists (contrasted with the traditional Christian view of life as bad, death as good, etc) who have as central tenets such ideas as “responsibility to the responsible” and generally call for harsher treatments of criminals (contrasted with the Christian ideal of “Jesus loves them anyway”). Enjoys satire, and an outré aesthetic.

I am a member of the Temple of the Vampire. This is also a well-established international organisation with a focus on Transhumanist development and the pursuit of physical immortality. For those afraid of scary things like the V-word, I point you to the ToV’s disclaimer: “Within lies fact and fancy, truth and metaphor: discriminate with care”.

While never denying either of the above affiliations, I have generally avoided allowing them to be public knowledge since I became involved with other Transhumanist endeavours, such as human cryopreservation. Human cryopreservation attracts enough misunderstanding as it is, without throwing two very easily misunderstandable extra things into the mix, by association.

It's a lame attempt to make being a satanist and a pretend vampire acceptable.

Expect to see him apply to be a CI director in due course.

Wait! Or is it a ploy to make current cryonics marketing seem normal?

Richie you are doing a great job keeping us updated, appreciated.

Yes, quite a spin attempt, but transparent and lame.

I notice also that the Temple of the Vampire has made a few revisions to its home page--the bit about being predators of humans and consuming their life-force is now gone, unless I have overlooked it.

Someone has also been trying a bit of SEO on the google results to assure those looking that it is not a cult.

'Truth and metaphors' made me chuckle.
So now a lie is not really a lie, it is a metaphor--yeah right.

Discrimination means being able to tell the difference and using that ability. Here amongst the living, as opposed to the brain-dead spinners, a lie is a lie, is a porkie pie. (thats rhyming slang)

Avoid people who trade in lies. They are unlikely to be trustworthy with your small change, let alone your prospects of resurrection some day.

Just more lies about lies, more bullshit about bullshit.

Church of Satan.
Church of Venturism.
Both are behind cryonics sales.

"rational" hedonists?
Like what, hot-tub hedonists?
There is nothing "rational" about this superstitious bullshit.

Its a scam. A swindle.
Like the financial side of cryonics.

The greatest rock and roll cryonics swindle...is the one where they tell you to give them all your money, and they will "invest" it for you, and make you a billionaire...when you are unfrozen in the future!
That is the supreme idiot-test. Trolling for a few credulous suckers, who will hand them all their money.

A ridiculous swindle.

Suspended Animation Inc. accused of incompetence.
[lesswrong.com]

Melody Maxim posted a link to this on her blog. (but her link has an error it in!)

A Dr. Brian Wowk is posting his personal PR Public Relation viral marketing, on behalf of the cryonics companies, problem is, Dr. Wowk is obviously a totally biased source, as he makes his income from these same related companies, like Life Extension Foundation, being on board of Alcor, 21st Century Medicine, etc.
For example, 21st Century Medicine holds a bunch a patents and sells their unproven "cryoprotectant" snake-oils, among many other things. [www.21cm.com]

Why didn't Dr. Wowk post an immediate FULL DISCLOSURE about the income/benefits/trips/conferences/expenses/grants he receives from these related cryonics companies, or their parent companies or investors?

That has the same non-credibility of one of the paid "doctors" who go on TV saying oil sands are about flowers and butterflies (Greenwashing) [en.wikipedia.org]
Like an infomercial where someone on the payroll of a company, is promoting their products.

Yes, people tend to promote the products, processes and patents they own, and make their income from.
For example, this website lists some patents by a Brian Wowk, one assumes its the same person.

Do these cryonics companies buy products that are based around his "cryogenic" patents? And which ones?

LOL,

I saw those postings by bwowk - Added your patents to less wrong forum with my rather agressive posting accusing bwowk of self interests and crankdom

Also - it looks like the cold filter forum have started discussing the vampire link:

I should ban myself from going online when "refreshed" ;)

That was an interesting link from your friend J, quoting from an anthropological book on modern vampirism by Joseph Laycock "Vampirism Today", describing TOV through the eyes of excommunicated members:

'So, as you can see, there really never was a true organization--we never held meetings--we never spoke on the phone--we only had to buy their products (which I have witnessed changing much over the years)--obey their “commands” and other such nonsense--and continue to pay them money to be a member. I cannot support an organization that treats its members in this fashion--and arbitrarily abandons them when they do as they are asked (as in my case)--so yes, there is “bad blood” between us. I don’t know who these people are (never have)--but they appear to be members of the COS by the propaganda they are spreading.

Belanger and several others share Nicholas’s suspicions that the Temple of the Vampire is actually a front for the Church of Satan. She believes the Temple was created as a direct response to the Church’s rival, the Temple of Set and their vampire organization. She also believes that the primary purpose of the Temple of the Vampire is to generate revenue through the sale of memberships, dues for gaining ranks, religious books, and vampiric jewellery, revenue that is then passed onto the Church of Satan.'

'The goals of the Temple seem to have shifted in the last few years. The vampire apocalypse is no longer described on the Temple’s Web site. Instead, the Temple has taken a new direction emphasizing physical immortality. Their Web site now describes the work of gerontologist Aubrey de Gray of The Methuselah Foundation and his promotion of radical life-extension technology. Vampirism is seen as technique to live long enough and to have enough wealth to take advantage of these coming technological innovations. Presumably, de Gray’s vision of ordinary people living for hundreds of years would be at odds with a “vampire apocalypse.” The Temple’s new agenda may reflect a changing market in new religious movements: Immortality sells better than being on the winning side of a bloody apocalypse'

It shows a clear business trajectory from a small-scale pyramid operation selling 'secret knowledge' books and jewellery to a closed circle of recruits, to making the purchase of 'big-ticket items' --a cryonics contract--
a condition of progress to higher level membership.

Its a modern western version of a cargo cult.

cryonics, Mark Plus "thought experiment"? About the murder of a child?
Posted by: The Anticult ()
Date: December 07, 2010 07:54PM

It looks like the patent information about Dr. Brian Wowk was deleted from Lesswrong. It shows a clear conflict of interest.
[lesswrong.com]

One revealing thing about both David Styles and Mark Plus. They both cannot deal with criticism based on facts, and try to do very amateur propaganda to deflect from it.

For example, the dishonesty being used by Mark Plus advancedatheist can be seen on LessWrong.
[lesswrong.com]
QUOTE from Mark Plus "The Anticult accuses me of advocating child sacrifice because of a thought experiment I posted on the ImmInst forum, which he pulled out of context.."

There are three FALSE statement in that one sentence, as can be seen by the facts.

There is nothing said about child sacrifice, that is Mark Plus's own disturbed thinking coming up with that. What was said is if someone did that, its called FIRST DEGREE MURDER. Get your facts about reality straight.
Quote [forum.culteducation.com] "A 10 year old child, healthy or not, being walked into a cryonics company, and then put on a cryonics table and cryonicized...that would obviously be classed as premeditated 1st degree murder."

He also makes another false statement, saying it was out of context. No it isn't, the quote is here, with a link its source. [forum.culteducation.com]

And a "Thought Experiment" about the 1st degree murder of a 10 year old child? That is a thought experiment? Its spoken as a direct COMMENT about the "perfect cryonics patient", from someone who is a full-time cryonics promoter. That perfect cryonics patient, with that being done to them, that would be pre-meditated murder of a child.
Remember, this is coming from someone working for the wannabe founder of a Cryonicsville.

Does Mark Plus really believe the public is so stupid as to be deceived with such feeble attempts at manipulation and obvious distortion of the facts?

[forum.culteducation.com] QUOTE from advancedatheist / Mark Plus: Posted 24 January 2009 - 04:20 AM
