Some people might be wondering how to take the public free mp3's of "Gary Smith", which seem to have been slowed down a bit with software, and try to reverse engineer them and play them at a normal speed.
Its not hard with digital technology, and its free.
Step 1: Download and save the public free mp3's from the source website.
[
forum.culteducation.com]
They are encoded as flash audio on one website, but the source website has the mp3 files freely available for free public downloading, at the link above.
Might be a good idea to do that immediately, as they will probably be disappeared soon.
Step 2: Get the free open source audio software Audacity. [
audacity.sourceforge.net]
Take the mp3 file and drag it into Audacity. (Or File/Import audio)
Then click or hi-light the audio file waveform.
Then apply the Effect from the tab. (Change Speed, Pitch, or Tempo). Its tricky to try to find the original, but it SOUNDS like the Tempo was slowed a bit, as well as the pitch.
(these settings can do chipmunk voices, or anything else).
Experiment with increasing the speed or pitch a little bit, to try and find the natural voice.
Its a good software to have on hand, for work in this area, as they are using digital audio technology to disguise their voices and various tricks.
For example, the tempo can be changed, without changing the pitch.
Audacity can also be used to record any audio running on the computer.
