QuotebarabaraI wonder why there is such a need to make light of the personal experiences related by livingthequestions? She is not an apologist for some "dangerous cult", after all. Perhaps her beliefs are unprovable, but I for one enjoy hearing about her experiences. Me too lol :D :D :D :D I think she is an invention by a creative senior member. Love Kath

Quotelivingthequestions I started developing neurological problems, falling down stairs, running into doorframes even when I saw them coming... That's my pet hate that is. When new agers call a psychosomatic illness a 'neurological problem.' Quote I would put my hands out in front of me, one was yes, one was no and I'd ask my question and wait until one got heavy. Why

QuotebarabaraIt occurs to me that the children called "indigos" have been discussed here as having ADHD; in other words, abnormal. Suggestions have been made that they need therapy, medication, or at least a good spanking. This is the point of my "wrangling", as you call it. I think the problem is that if I use the terms ADHD, therapy or medication, you think I am using

No human is normal it's true- a large percentage have had breakdowns, have a spiritual life or some such. But what marks someone out as healthy to me is if they can chat to a stranger in public without mentioning an indigo, energies, psychism or whatever their particular obsession is etc unless the other person brings it up. Even if an indigo could manage this, I imagine their beliefs

I meant normal in as much as the sort of everyday chat you would have at a bus stop or in a supermarket queue:) Love Kath

it's a whole other language made up of buzz words and concepts alien to normal life too. Can't be good for people and their ability to chat and interact socially with 'normal' people. Love Kath

The danger I feel is in people pidgeoholing themselves, 'I am an indigo.' Then either before of after that they take on the whole package- energies, highly sensitive person etc. They could get so much more from some decent counselling or psychotherapy without having to buy into a whole belief system or lifestyle. Each to his own though I suppose! Love Kath

Quotebarabara Yes, it is possible to test for high intelligence and other traits. Indigo proponents don't generally claim a high IQ for the children. This is because it could be measured. Of course, if an Indigo child's IQ were measured, their fans would say their particular hyperspiritual brand of intelligence cannot be measured using current mainstream methods (very convenie

they are just quoting from Walsh's book. There are lots of sites with this quote on- mainly born-agains but it's still a quote from the book. New age sites etc probably wouldn't mention this bit:) Love Kath

QuoteAcid ReindeerI got an e-mail from a man with Asperger's who said that he had never met anyone who regreted having Asperger's. this information surprised me, actually. you can make of that what you will... QuoteAcid Reindeer two points to add, I had not really heard of synesthesia considered as a defect before. Where did I use the word defect? Isn't it strange how in this thread it's hard to stick to the topic of Indigo Children? Could it be that They are influencing our discussion?:D Love Kath

QuoteAcid Reindeer two points to add, I had not really heard of synesthesia considered as a defect before. and the autistic online community, the same community thta coined the term, neurodiversity does not really describe themselves as "suffering" from autism because they tend not to consider autism as a disability. Precisely, they are moving somewhat from suffering, to celebrating

This thread is about Indigos. The designated word "Indigo" has nothing to do with the color of an aura! It is the result of scientific observations by a woman who has the brain disorder called synesthesia. What is interesting about the indigo concept and what it shows is New Agers' 'different' idea of what science is, as shown above. This I think is dangerous,

It's cheaper not to spend time 'vetting' recruits. I got a telesales job once, for those sort of jobs there's no vetting procedure at first. There's a high drop out rate so MLMs and telesales both need just to carry on recruiting large numbers. Those who don't do well with MLMs retire themselves. You couldn't get a business with less effort or overhe

Shea, the leaders of the P.A see paganism very much as a Religion, and are involved with inter-faith, chatting to Bishops etc. Ironic really, considering their reputation:) Are you still involved in paganism? There are some ok people around nowadays, finally. Love Kath

This is what she sent a contributor to a pagan forum, who is new and she does not know, via PM:- Why are you posting bullshit? A lot of individuals/members of the p.a seem very keen that opposition should be silenced. They monitor and limit what is said on pagan forums, while the leaders of the p.a are allowed to swear at and bully new people they don't know, via PM on those forums. Could it be that the p.a deliberately try and ingratiate themselves with those who run forums, so as to control their content?
