Every month he has a script for someone who needs to set a boundary. I love 'em! The boundaries are usually pretty strict too, moreso than most people would think was 'acceptable' for family members. "But they're family!!" Phil's response: "family-schmamly..." YEA! I don't watch TV - just DVDs - and I've never seen Phil's show but I h

Today I was browsing around reading the Participant Reports links, and came across this comment about Oprah: At 4/16/2008 6:39 AM, Anonymous said... One thing regarding Katie's hookup with Oprah (and Tolle's): Oprah has a way of tearing through ideas and pulling her followers along with her, skimming off the top layer and then racing on to the next thing... leaving a "burnt f

Here it is: On Guruphiliac: On this forum: By dlp72: By quackdave: By question4truth: By blammo: By waterbottle: By chicky monkey: By jj52:

LOL... at least Dr. Phil hasn't yet aspired to Godhood. And he gives good advice in the magazine. Funny thing is I've never even watched Oprah on TV. I don't get the magazine because of her but because of all the great articles in it that OTHER people write. I'd like to see her really investigate BK and ET more thoroughly (i.e. attend their intensive programs with a journa

Oh gawd... I heard about BK through a recent article in O the Oprah magazine. And now, p.135 of the latest O issue says, "To quote one of O's favorite philosophers, Eckhart Tolle..." UGH!! Maybe I should stop reading this magazine...

Quotehelpme2timesI think it is sad that there is such a huge level of DENIAL from some parties that there might be even a HINT of anything wrong in BK-land. Interestingly "Lauren" has claimed that we are merely promoting hearsay here. Unfortunately that doesn't help her case, because the same can be said of her. Why believe what she has to say? She seems to think that Byron Katie i

"GET REAL, ACCEPT LIFE AS IT IS, AND DO!" That teaching goes WAY further back... It was a foundational tenet of Buddha, for example. Too bad BK and ET don't just stop there, with that one teaching.

Yes, there is an avalanche of evidence (besides even that point you brought up, Corboy), that Byron Katie does NOT actually "love what is."

P.P.S. let me clarify what I meant when I said that "I no longer had daily suicidal thoughts, nightmares, anxiety attacks, or flashbacks." The word 'daily' could be misconstrued, so I wanted to clarify that after 4 years of healing work, I no longer had any of them EVER (or since). "Daily" referred to the suicidal thoughts I used to have daily. And one last thing

P.S. to my last post to Lauren: I struggle with anxiety because of postpartum depression, in case anyone was wondering why I was saying I was 'healed' when I still have anxiety! And I'm pretty much over that; it lasts at most 2 years and my daughter just turned 2.

Lauren, I'm replying to a couple of your posts here. I am sorry you've been going through a painful time. I understand that anything that helps you relieve that pain is hard to see being criticized. Please bear with me as I reply because the reason I post here at all is that I don't want people to suffer needlessly, even at the hands of someone who says she's doing what

Anticult re-posted those quotes from "Losing the Moon." It's ironic that I posted what I did about BK vs. Hitler (quoted below), since BK doesn't call what the Nazis did 'evil'. She calls it God. Because according to her, everything and everyone is God. If that's not sick and twisted, I don't know what is. It may sound lovely... accepting what "is"

QuoteShaking My HeadI do feel, too, that telling a woman who has survived child rape-- that she is abusing herself, has abused the abuser and was involved in this to get the love/attention/approval she was after, that this is a GREAT BIG RED FLAG. It's very obvious and I don't know how anyone could miss it. It's not just a 'big red flag,' it's horrifying!!!

A question for Lauren or other BK supporters reading this: Why is it that once people have done the Work on something, they don't then do the Work AGAIN on the conclusion they come to as a result of having done the Work the first time? If you are supposed to question every thought, shouldn't this include the thoughts you have as a result of doing the Work? This is another problem

Wow, AC - those Participant Reports should be more than enough to convince anyone to steer clear of BK and the Work. I hope they do. If these people would create affidavits, then it could be used as legal evidence.

I've been studying Byron Katie over the past few weeks, and this morning was thinking about all the people who start cults and/or use mind control on people. Their basic message seems to be: "I have the answer for how to rid your life of pain, and all you need to do is give me control of your life." And then that quote from The Princess Bride popped into my head. It is sooo true, n

I read through Wikipedia's content guidelines. I'm going to wait a day and then try again with this version, unless anyone has a better suggestion: There is documentation of rape and incest victims taking partial or full blame for what happened to them. The School for the Work has been accused of using unethical [] techniques. I got a message explaining the deletion

My section about the School on Wikipedia just got deleted. I don't know if it was because I quoted content from this page (JJ's story) or some BK supporter deleted it. 5 minutes later... I just added a truncated version of the information on the School with no quoted text and it also got deleted immediately. OK now everything i added has been deleted. It's either a BK support

Quotejj52I reached a point where the obvious turnarounds didn't feel true anymore... and I had to look deeper for what was true. By doing the Worksheets, I started to see things that I hadn't seen before... like the fact that BK was an "anti-Christ". Yep, that came about in my turnarounds. I also started to see how manipulative my in-laws were, and how what they were doing to
