Frogla, you are awesome. I understand what's it like to be a "true believer" like Trent, but KNOW that you are not at fault. Marriage is sacred and there is no way that God would sanction what Timothy is telling Trent. I have to believe that God will work this all out for His good. You and Trent would be an incredible team in promoting an understanding of cultic/spiritual abuse.

You can probably google and find trash about Rick Ross. However, that is not the issue. Maybe Rick had some criminal charges when he was a young kid, but he now provides a website where thousands of people have been able to obtain information about different groups. Many of those individuals have avoided involvement in a cult or have had the blinders taken off their eyes because of this website a

Clarification on my last post. On October 2nd, truthbetold wrote, "They have over 10,000 members all over the world and communicate via skype. 4 times aweek with the men and 3 times for the women. I told one of the members I believed this was a cult and pointed him to your website." My question was directed to truthbetold, "How do you know that Trumpet Call of God has over 10,00

Thanks for posting, Molly. It takes a lot of courage to speak out against a cult, especially when you suffer repercusions such as shunning from your family members. What bothers me most about this group, New Creation Fellowship, led by Randy Nusbaum, is that they recruit college students from University of North Texas. Hang in there!

Posting on blogs, writing in your own journal, processing verbally with people who understand, and educating yourself on the cult phenomenon are very therapeutic. You're doing all the right things!

BTW, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Timothy and his cult following are reading everything that is written on this blog. When my husband and I were posting about our cult, Trinity Foundation, we were aware that they were monitoring the Rick Ross site. It is a way to do damage control. If Timothy knows what his opponents are saying, then he can get another crazy letter from God which amazin

LLG, If it has only taken you a month to re-discover the truth and find your own beliefs, you have probably made some kind of Guinness record! Most of us, who were in Bible-based cults, spend years working through the erroneous beliefs of our particular cults and reconnecting to church and God. I wrote a book about my experience and used some of the last words that I said to my cult leader; i.

You can find other interesting articles on Rick Ross' sites here: Hope to see you post your experiences and your husband's here! I think it's great that Rick Ross provides a forum for discussi

Wow! That is an amazing story, LLG. My husband and I were in a Bible-based cult too. My husband, Doug, was recruited when he was in college and was involved in the group for over twenty years. I was a member for "only" seven years. I can totally relate to everything you wrote. The average person does not understand how folks are sucked in, but as one cult expert said, "no one is im

Thanks for writing, LLG. I'm sure it will give family members who are following this thread hope for their loved ones. Can you tell us more about your experience? How did you get involved, how long has it been since you left, and the big question: what caused you to leave?

Thanks! This was the largest group we have had since we started over two years ago. If it keeps growing we will have to split up so that more people will have the opportunity to process. If you are in the Dallas area, feel free to contact me for more info.

We have had several former members of this group join our support group. New Creation's doctrine is very similar to the Bible-based cult my husband and I were involved with. They recruit heavily from the college in Denton.

My husband and I facilitate a support group for former members of cults. Last Saturday there were eighteen people in the group. Ex-cultists need the opportunity and a venue to process their experience. Support groups and forums, such as this one, provide that venue. Our cult was also very "anti-therapy" and yes, it is a self-serving ploy. After we left, my husband earned his masters

Your are so right about "saying it" - former cult members need an opportunity and venue to process their experience. Our group was very anti-therapy and yeah, it is self-serving on their part. After we left the cult, my husband earned his masters degree in counseling and now i

Traci Salazar writes: "Okay and you don't touch God's annointed it's in the bible dear alright." How many times have we heard that from a cult leader, or in this case, a cult leader's daughter! It's folks like Traci who give Christians a bad name.

Rick Ross' site gets mega hits a day and is one of the few cult awareness/educational sites that inquirers can come to if they have questions about a specific group. I am so glad that you and Sparky and the others have posted so much information on this thread. I know that it can and will be used to warn others about the danger of this groups. I'm not saying that you should not start

Hi Philly, You asked about our family support group. My husband and I are former members of a Bible-based cult and started a support group for excultists in January of 2008. Frogla contacted us in the fall of 2008 and she made us aware of the need for a family support group for folks who have a family member involved in a cult. Frogla's husband is the only one I know who is involved in this

Hi Rick, Thank you for your questions about the letters. When Doug and I first met frogla two years ago, we didn't know what to think about the group that her husband was in. She was introduced to us by another cult awareness group, Watchman Fellowship, and was instrumental in our starting a family support group. After hearing about the group and checking into it further, it appears

My husband and I facilitate a support group for former members of cults. A young man has been coming for the last several months who had been in an internet cult. As our society changes and there are more and more social networking opportunities, these internet cults are going to become stronger than ever. When I first heard about intercult cults from Frogla, it was hard to understand how the

Fool us once.... Most of the former cult members I know are very apprehensive about churches. I think that if spirituality and/or a relationship with God was important to you pre-cult, then it is still important and can be a huge part of your healing. But, a church and its members need to be safe. After our Bible-based cult experience, my husband decided that we were going to stay within t

There are a lot of good books out there. I think reading is an important part of the healing process. My recommendations are Captive Hearts, Captive Minds, Recovery from Cults, Toxic Faith, Churches That Abuse, and of course, my book, I Can't Hear God Anymore: Life in a Dallas Cult.

Becoming part of a church is EXTREMELY difficult. We were lucky to find a laid-back, no pressure, church after we left our cult. It helped a lot in the healing process. I really had a need to worship God - something I had lost in the cult. We went to a liturgical church where the worship is laid out for you and I was able to begin to reconnect with God. Many times though something would trigger m

If you were in a pseudo Christian group or Bible-based group, you might want to consider going to a church totally opposite in style from the group you were involved in. My husband and I were in a Bible-based cult that tried to recreate first century Christianity. They met in homes for Bible studies and observed all of the Jewish feasts/fasts. It took a while, but we are now a part of a liturgica

Thanks for the info, Sparky. My husband and I facilitate a support group in the Dallas area for former members of cults and spiritually abusive groups. We are seeing more and more of these small "Christian" cults with a leader who takes pride in the fact that he or she is a lone ranger.
