When the only valid interpretation/understanding of scripture is channeled through Marilyn and Gary, was is the point of putting out thousands of dollars for an education from Shiloh University? Save the money, and allow them to continue doing their job of revealing God's thoughts and ways. Let the professionals handle it!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. Lily: I am familiar with IHOP and Kansas City, I know a group of burnouts that affiliate with Kansas City, as well as some current members that checked out IHOP in 2010ish. This was around the time of Todd Bentley, and G&M were reaching out to other evangelstic ministries. They were actually at a Todd Bentley service on TV in L.A. and prophesied with him the

Welcome, FactoverFiction. Glad to hear you've separated yourself from TLWF. <We never asked questions about Donna, Martha, or the 80s in general> Gary pastored the first church I was involved in (Redlands). Donna was his wife at the time, and both my wife and I found her to be very down-to-earth, ebullient and kind. I knew nothing about Martha personally, other than what I was to

Just popping up on the net. Recent burnout. Been in TLWF for most of my life. Read this entire thread, a lot of sorting through the ashes of a warped theology but I'll be PMing many of you. My opinion is that, as Paleface and rrmoderator have said, there needs to be more truth to jar the new generation from the lies they've been fed. We never asked questions about Donna, Martha, or the

Do you remember the Hebrew Greek scholar GUstav Hoyer (escaped Nazi Germany) who lived at Shiloh for a time working on mathematical structures of the Bible. It was rumored that Hoyer warned JRS that the violent intercession (death prayers) of the little people (spiritually immature) would not help JRS and would result in the intercessors getting sick. Think about it....the death prayers the godly

Scriptural admonition to be an example, not a micro-managing control freak: 1 Peter 5:3-- "nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock." I think Inyan Kara Mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota or Navajo Mountain/Rainbow Bridge in Southern Utah are more “sacred centers” than Shiloh. At least at the former two sites you can meditate/wait in silence uninterrupted while for sure at Shiloh someone will immediately try to “Lord it over you,” weaseling their way into any inner peace you have between yourself and the Spirit. If your family member is moving to Iowa to be a part of Shiloh then I would be concerned. They have hired PR firms to help improve their image. They will tell you how much they have changed. My opinion, it's still the cult it has always been. The leaders still claim that "Shiloh is the center of the universe", for example. The main pastors are very ruthless people. If you ques

One post that bothered me, and has stuck with me, on this forum a number of years ago from Lou Ann. She said Marilyn had told those at Shiloh who haven't changed would have to leave Shiloh. Lou Ann questioned what did that mean. Good question. I think it meant those who haven't been sanctified enough according to M's standards would have to leave. JRS was looking for sancti

I belonged to the LW church for 13 yrs. Some of the churches or congregations had it rougher than in other congregations. It sounds like Shiloh was very much into abusive control. I came into the so called "walk" in the SFO Bay area in Campbell, Ca. under the direction of Howard Klein and his wife, Naomi. It was like many of the other charismatic churches of the 70's and the pe

It's sad to note that a part of the annual School Of Prophets meeting at Shiloh is the designation of the Top 10 Kingdom Businesses. Based of course on their fiscal and spiritual support of G&M who are so obviously hurting. It must really suck to be giving your life to this ministry and come in at number 11 ...

I recall when Impact was in Iowa the workers were living in dorms at Shiloh. Rich Lindy was po'd because the Impact workers didn't regularly attend the Shiloh services or violent intercession sessions so Rich wanted the Shiloh workers to move out. Bob Mc Clain said the workers held their own intercession sessions. Maybe that's in part how the rift with Bob began? At the time

The Washington IA chuch was well known for being uptight and legalistic. Timothy, JRS would not have treated you like that. I'm fairly sure of that, 'cuz there were plenty of us "screw-ups" in the CA churches that he loved and accepted. Most of the Shiloh folks hated going to services in Washington. I am sorry you got treated so badly. Did your sweetie walk away with you?

Hi all, I posted a few pages ago about how I am a journalism student writing a story about Shiloh and its role in the Living Word Fellowship. I've spoken to a couple of you about speaking more one-on-one, but if anyone else who has connections with Shiloh would be willing to talk, that would be great! I don't want to use your stories to write anything sensational. I just want to tell

Minor clarification of prior post. The "L" in ISIL stands for Levant and refers to mapping of the middle east that has been redrawn again and again over many decades. The concern of the use of the term Levant is that Islam may think it validates their claim that Israel doesn't exist. The Obama admin continually tries to get Israel to give up land which seems to be a dismissal of

Are you sure it was you dog? Maybe you have been sleep-walking again. Welcome uijournalist to our gang. I'm sure there are Shiloh people who would talk to you. Also, it is interesting to note that some people (a few) feel that the LW was a sound and healthy branch of Christianity under John. These people feel that it didn't go off track until Gary & Marilyn took charge.

Hello, I am a journalism student at the University of Iowa. I am interested in writing a story about the Shiloh, Iowa church and the Living World Fellowship as a whole, exploring a lot of the claims I've read about the church and why people still seem to be drawn to it. I would like to speak to members who have left, so if any of you did have a past affiliation with Shiloh are willing to

Nope Lily Rose, those labels were bestowed upon my mother over the years. However I'm sure I've inherited both the contentious as well as the woman's spirit as I expect to have equal (not more or less) ground with my husband. Most days I have no desire to "kill him" LOL and who would ever want somebody you love submitting to your whims. I know I know it's scriptu

I wonder if many of the leaders who left weren't more submissive to man than they were to God and I imagine many of them moved on unscathed. Invisible once pointed out in response to one of my questions that there are "agreements among men." Sounds vague but I think I know what that means. When I was at Shiloh a young woman in my dorm room was being paid a great deal of attention

I'm apart of the much aligned 3rd generation (LOL) so most of those names I recognize but were not around when I was in Colorado. My parents came into the church in 1971 at Grace Chapel and also attended Church of His Holy Presence in Anaheim. Once my dad was out of the service he was "commissioned" to go to Wynne Arkansas with Brother Bush, The church moved to Memphis TN sometime

I'm not sure where to begin, I have read your posts for years but never felt the need to discuss until now. I really have no idea why, I wasn't actually born into "The Walk" but my parents joined when I was 8 or 9 months old so I have no memories of anything else obviously. My father is still very involved as are many people I would consider family if not by blood the

Shmamp – The “Fred” and “Ethel” projects were (and are) what the local LW church office is obligated to prepare each year and turn into APCO. It is a full end-of-the-year financial (and tax) report of all the income and expenses of the local church. It often involves a complete detailed inventory of all assets at the local church. Everything is counted and written down in a ledger, all the
