From CNN.com - Ms. Hine is the mother of the girl who has made allegations of physical abuse at the hands of a dorm parent at Oprah's school in Africa. "Hine attended an emergency meeting with Winfrey when the talk-show host came to the school two weeks ago. "She was emotional, she was crying when she was talking about her daughters. It is not our daughters anymore, it is O

I JUST saw an ad on tv for Trump doing something at the Learning Annex in NYC. It was all common sense stuff, though - love what you do, keep your focus, work hard, etc. He was just on MSNBC with Erin whats-her-name, and the night before, there was some panel she facilitated, with Kiyosaki and others. They all had hit bottom (which they said was a requirement to getting rich).

Just like Landmark - Get up and confess in front of everyone and have Joe Blow the make-believe counselor tell you how to fix everything.

Let me guess - Was this at the Learning Annex? If so, this is LGAT central. Anyone who's anyone in LGATs, The Secret, new age pseudo-guru-land, eventually ends up pushing their crap there.

- Please write to the producers of this show and to TLC to express your views on Dr. Phil boot camp type group awareness trainings. Dr. Phil claims he is not affiliated at all with Marriage Camp, but the facilitators of the Boot Camp trained with his Coaches, and were involved with him and Thelma Box years ago. For show reviews From The Marriage Boot Camp website: "During the conve

I tuned into Marriage Boot Camp on TLC last night and got a funny feeling watching the show. Couples with serious marriage problems gather for weekend seminars and air their dirty laundry to participants while Dr. Phil sound-alikes stand behind them and tell them what to say. Though Marriage Boot Camp claims they are not affiliated with Dr. Phil, a few of their "marriage experts" were

This is from Hawaii.edu, an excerpt from a published paper on ancient Hawaiian healing practices. Note the tremendous difference from the "updated version" being marketed above. Ho’opononpono (make things right or “problem solving”) refers to counseling and mediation to resolve conflicts and balance relationships (Helwig, 2003). Ho’opononpono can be used for an individual or a group

I wrote about this back in March 2007 when I was reading the individual websites of the Secret scammers. What is sad is that Ho'oponoponoopoppoono is a really wonderful thing - it is a mediation of sorts for people who have disagreements. What Vitale is selling is so far from the real thing (any surprise there?) . BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!!! If you thought the Secret told you how t

The above will bring you to a website dedicated to getting information about dual relationships, broken ethical boundaries and recovery. There is also a link to the old advocateweb that has a lot of good info.

I still am very suspicious, and since the person who referred me was a medical professional, it was years before I went back to a doctor. I post on another board, unrelated to cults, and when people write that they are going to try some LGAT or just bought The Secret and other stuff like that, I try to give enough information to warn them. I used to go nutso trying to explain what was wrong wit

I went to an intro night, but not at someone's house. It was fun and pretty benign. It was like Oprah Lite. However, it was nothing like the Forum, which is what the intent of the introductory night - have fun, sucker everyone into the Forum. Since my doctor had recommended it, I thought it would be a good thing to do. BOy was I wrong. Landmark has scripted responses to all your ques

Thanks Zorro. I only really remembered the WYDKYDK from the very beginning of the Forum and didn't recall how they applied this "conversation" throughout the rest of the three days. I only attended a couple of the seminar series after the forum. Most of the people in my forum either didn't go at all or dropped out after two or three sessions. They were boring an

It is a major LE phrase. Usually what comes next is something to the effect of, it is your loss\life or your life doesn't matter that much if you say you're not interested. It is also what my sociopathic Landmarkian naturopath asked when he said I was "stuck", i.e. his "therapy" wasn't working.

Can someone refresh my memory? I rememer the pie chart used at the beginning of the Forum that included the section, "What you don't know you don't know", and it was about the unconscious and how most people operate on unconscious "thought". I don't recall the FL really getting into this (might have been my FL). As I go through life and wh

One of the principles of selling is to use your potential customer's name as much as possible during a conversation. Landmark and others just take it to new levels.

Vic-Luc, The "doctor" I was referring to was the one I needed therapy FOR. He was up to his eyeballs in Landmark Education and used their "technology" in his practice without informing his patients he was doing. In the aftermath, I went to a PhD in Psych, who did not know anything about Landmark (except that it is helpful for some people, she said). I wa

To answer the OP, spiritual abuse is particularly horrific and very difficult to recover from. It doesn't matter if it was a Buddhist cult or Christian cult, it will feel like jumping from the fire into the frying pan going back to the Bible, Koran, etc. or organized religion unless the ex-cult member does some really intense therapy and discovery about their experience.

I didn't go to a psychiatrist. I went to a psychotherapist who specialized in mainly verbal abuse, which I naively thought at the time was the biggest issue. Most therapists are not trained to understand problems associated with danderous groups, LGATs, etc. I did go to the free support group that the cult-specialist-LSW has and learned how similar the dynamics are, whether it is a one-

The chair spacing (actually - lack thereof) also throws the participants off balance as there is just no room to relax. I'm small yet was squished between two rather portly gentlemen during the first couple hours of the Forum. If I had relaxed even a bit, I would have been leaning on one of their shoulders. SO, lack of sleep, nutrition, quality air, sunlight, room to relax, uncomfortable

I used their own stuff on them after I did the Forum. I was bored and disgusted in the series that was included in the Forum and dropped out. When they called and tried to persuade me to return I simpl said "I choose not to." and remained silent. It worked. I also then was successful in getting a full refund.

Seminar No. 3, 1989, The Psychology of Torture, by Shirley Spitz\ "Pain cannot be shared. It is difficult to verbalize. In addition, acute pain destroys language. To witness the moment when pain causes a reversion to the pre-language of cries and whispers, is to witness the destruction of language. To be present when a person moves up out of the pre-verbal state to project the fac

From my HEAL e-newsletter 8/4/07 HEAL has discovered in the past week that CAFETY (Community Alliance For the Ethical Treatment of Youth) is a fraud. On the CAFETY Board are former staff and directors of behavior modification programs. HEAL will not work with CAFETY or CAICA (Coalition Against Institutionalized Abuse of Children).
