I have questions: does anyone have any information on the current condition of leadership since Matilyn's death? Has Gary hooked up with anyone? Did Marilyn leave any command of who Gary must marry? Has Rick taken on a new title? Have any churches left or been shut down? I have no connections with anyone except this forum. I'm just very curious. Or is this movement folding with

I Chronicles 16:10 Psalm 66:1-2 Psalm 99:5 John 4:23-24 Phillipines 3:3 Revelations 14:6-7 I think God wants worship. King David was one of his most aggressive worshippers. All creation worships him. It isn't about His ego. Worship is an expression of our love for Him. What father doesn't want to hear his children love him. kBOY Wrote: ----------------------------------

Larry, that is very powerful and true: "There are so many people that really love God after suffering terrible hardships - that have been through the fire - and they are a force to be reckoned with – only this time it isn’t in fantasy land." And I know the Scripture about not neglecting gathering together. A group is more powerful than an individual. So thank you for those wise word

It was hard for me to do, exposing myself to the group. I don't know you and you don't know me. But I wanted the group to see my paradigm to give context to my comments. The sense of betrayal is the last vestige I have not shaken from my enounter. Half my life with a group of people should have accounted for something in terms of relationships, but it didn't. So I shake the du

Those three were Blix House residents who edited the tapes, rode in the van, were privy to every meeting JRS had with anyone. There were others, like Larry Cotton's wife. When Jonestown happened, JRS told people to go home to their relatives and let them know the LW as not like that. LW is about life, not death. Hence, no kool aid for us and we're not a cult. I never liked kool aid anyways because it was too sweet. I would't have drank it. paleface Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So here's the question of

After reading nearly all the posts on this site, I now feel ready to make a declaration about myself to the group. As background, I can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of God in my life.I I started reading the KJV of the Bible when I was 4 years old. My intention was to start with Genesis and work my way to Revelations. I really got bogged down in the begats. I wasn't

Here is an excerpt about Marilyn from her and Gary's website: "In 1963, at John Stevens’ request, Marilyn began transcribing the personal ministry portions of his services. This was the beginning of the transcribing department of The Living Word. It was the first of many departments and functions that were created by Marilyn in her drive to preserve and distribute the Word spoken by

Lily Rose, it was either the winter of '78 or '79 in Shiloh when they were snowed in for an extended period of time that JRS set in several women as pastors. I know specially three: Marilyn, Mary Wyatt, and Phyllis Crow. There were others, but I just can't remember their names. I believe once Marilyn was commissioned a pastor that she began participating in bring the Word with

Corboy, I appreciate you taking the time to list all these references. You are apparently someone who has a negative take of the cultural revolution of the 1960s. You do realize that the whole generation was not all drug-crazed, sex-crazed, anti-establishment freaks. That is as much a stereotype as the rose-colored glasses image you are wanting to break. Romanticizing the past is human nature

I just posted something about Larry Makuakane but now I don't think it could be him because it had him as 70 in 1999. I think that's too old. Other things I saw in the Google listings has a Lawrence Makuakane, 66, in Wisc. I didn't think a Hawaiian would be living in the snow. So, please disregard this info until I am able to find something more concrete. I'm the research

I Googled Larry Makuakane to see if there were any history on him. All I discovered was this obituary notice from 1999. It does not list Leilani Makuakane-Potter as a survivor. But he and Carolyn were in the hotel business in Hawaii when they were married, so it makes sense he would have returned to that: "Lawrence “Larry” Makuakane, 70, of Honolulu, a retired head doorman for the Ilik

There's still a cadre of us out there who lived the '60s. As an historian, I would be interested in what books you have to share that "explain" us. I could recommend some to you as well that show how all the revolution of that time has had a lasting affect on how our civilization advanced as well. I love this sort of thing! corboy Wrote: --------------------------------

Don't take everything Tony Cox says as truth. I knew him at one time, his wife, and his daughter "Ruthie." I knew when he split with her. As you may know, Ruthie was Tony's and Yoko Ono's daughter. He split with her and was hiding from Yoko and John to keep his daughter. He eventually surfaced, then made this video, was interviewed in People Magazine and again came in

Invisible: very insightful! I know for a fact that JRS listened for God's voice in our prayers, intercession, and prophecy to him. He felt lost at times at what God wanted next, so hearing from those who weren't close to him and knew specifics meant more than those who spoke from personal knowledge. Only then did he see God's direction for him in the midst of the confusion.

My comment will be a seque, but it reminded me of something I haven't thought of in years. When Larry Cotton was over South Gate, he once asked me to bring a Word there on a Thursday night. I had never brought a Word before! I was young and inexperienced. He chided me with not believing the Word over me. So, I combed through my notes on recent sermons by JRS and picked the topic of onen

Paleface, if all he said doesn't set with you, then by all means reject it! I found many truths in his preaching. Not all of it set with me, so I rejected it. I sifted, sorted, evaluated based on my spiritual filter. Does that make me right? Who's to say. I can only be true to myself and my relationship with God. I think we all strive to do that for ourselves. I commend you!
