Sorry, a bit slow today. The Prescott enews article linked above by Yakaru gives a detailed resume of the latest happenings, I had not read that before I posted.

There are a number of extra court documents uploaded today, most dealing with requests for cameras in the court room and JAR response to that, statements from the news agencies wanting to film the proceedings and most noteworthy, a request from the family of victim James Shore to be included in the bailbond hearing, presumably to put their case for the non-reduction of bail. I doubt that any v

'Ah, yes...the old "business model" that helped with the Dot.Bomb crash. I believe it is refered to as "Churn and Burn" (talk up an investment on multiple sites, get excitment going, then sell your entire portfolio and let the suckers get burned)' That echoes exactly all the other circle-jerk internet marketing scams.

I had a good read of that Mother Jones article which certainly seems to illustrate what I understand of the complexity of the way shell companies are set up to launder and hide assets. I expect that Death Ray has a similar if less complex set-up in place. Incidentally, the Hunger Project is still operating with some very prestigious names attached. Some years ago I was invited to use a Hunger

'Are there any studies that describe factors that contribute to such a condition, or is this just human suggestability?' From my experience this is the human condition. We are suggestible creatures--which is a good thing as it allows us to learn and adapt to changing circumstances. From an evolutionary point of view, our suggestibility is what has allowed us to survive and prosper.

I agree. JAR got into this business in order to benefit from OPM. The first rule is to establish a flight fund, or moving money, a ready source of cash for when he has to get out of the business quick. Thereafter his financial strategy is built on salting away as much as possible in inaccessible places while preserving the veneer of a solid businessman with roots in the community. I disagr

Boston Herald article cites now sealed court documents regarding financial position of James Ray, he's $4+ million in debt and has $14,000 in a checking account. He lists liabilities of $8+ million, most of which are unexplained---some off-shore exploration might provide some explanatory guidance. They want a reduced bail as he isn't a threat to public safety----the constant casu

'They are not victims anymore, not for a long time.' I think that this is a very important point. In the early years of cult indoctrination it is possible to operate a kind of double-think, to hold two opposing belief systems at the same time. So it is entirely possible for indoctrinees to believe that Death Ray is god's gift to mankind and to also tolerate the sales manipulat

I have no doubt at all that Death Ray will be setting up the Dir of Ops and hubby to try to take the heat off himself. He had no qualms about killing his customers, he's unlikely to have qualms about throwing his employees under the bus. It would be interesting to know who paid for the employees legal representative, he didn't seem to be working too hard in his clients best interest

In this case I think the aggravation is being extended to the charges against JAR, who had received pecuniary advantage from perpetrating the offense. As yet the accomplices have not been charged, and the investigators, having given the immunity in the presence of their legal counsel, are unlikely to extend much further generosity with regard to being lied to after the immunity deal was accept

I'm not too sure of the legal definitions in the US, but 'aggravated' when attached to a charge would normally make it a much worse offense than the bog-standard charge. If I were an accomplice or even two accomplices, I'd be worrying about now.

Tony Robbins managed to get a TED spot, must be some kind of signifier of acceptance by the great and good, the movers and shakers of this world. There is an outgrowth of the Toronto blessing, the Alpha Course which has been the subject of some misgivings in the UK. In the UK both have their beginnings in the same church, Holy Trinity in Brompton Road and both have the charismatic and evangelical element, which is seen as a good way of reversing the rapidly falling church attendance in UK. There are elements of the recruiting and traini

As an aside, I had to google Tim O'Reilly and also found it a bit creepy that BK is cosying up to this uber-geek. He could be vulnerable to her schtick, given his stated interest "His honors thesis explored the tension between mysticism and logic in Plato's dialogues." o'reilly bio Let's hope his real world experience keeps him on the logic side of the tension

I noticed also that there are reports on twitter of people still receiving promotional emails from JRI for upcoming events--this could either be a pre-programmed autoresponder sending out an email string or could indicate that JRI intends to continue trading, no matter what happens to DeathRay. There is clearly some financial fancy footwork being attempted here. Incidentally, I've been r
