I've been fascinated by the spread of this 'revival'. I watch most nights on God tv. For me, the 'impartation of the spirit' as per Todd Bentley and his ilk bear such a striking resemblance to kundalini being 'awoken' as to be identical. Osho (Rajneesh) and numerous other gurus have imparted their anointing by blowing, touching the willing recipients. It seem

Sorry for the delay: There has been 320 pages of some guy (or his acolytes) refusing to countenance that there might be something rotten in the state of Denmark (metaphorically speaking) when any man who truly lived in the light of truth might reflect on his spiritual condition, be grateful for any criticism and take steps to put himself right rather than spin and accuse and obfuscate. The length of this thread and threads like it serve to illustrate the sheer vanity of these cult leaders. Rather than twisting and turning and obfuscating and blaming all and sundry why cannot these 'enlightened ones' simply take a humble step back and go, "Wow, I must be giving off a false impression and I need to seriously check out whether I'm on the right track" or s

Sadkimmy: I can sympathise/empathise and the only advice I could give is, take a walk in the countryside, or a park or a garden and inhale the placid silence in which God might be heard. "Hell is other people" as J.P.Sartre said and people can mess up your mind with their endless doctrines and theories. Nobody actually KNOWS anything at all where God is concerned - people only theo

Since, to my surprise, I have been quoted on this page I ought to re-iterate that I have tremendous respect for the attitudes of the JCs - I thought the couple on "Wife Swap" were right-on in many aspects. And I would certainly lend support to any who wanted to leave but could not summon the courage. Dave excepted as he's making his bed and will have to lie in it.

Hiya Sallie - you may well be right. I'm pretty ignorant - I don't do puzzles. Sodukus floor me every time. There is so much smoke and mirrors in the Pauline/anti Pauline world of mystery that anything goes or does not go. Maybe you are right with your belief regarding what you think the poster is trying to describe - it all gets very confusing and confusion is the name of the ga

All well and good but Jesus in nowhere in the Hebrew Bible - much less the Song of Songs. It seems the poster accepts Paul's version of Jesus (derived from claimed religious visions and ecstasies and unsubstantiable) as authentic. Insofar as the Jesus that Peter preached in Acts is concerned, that Jesus is named as Jesus as Nazareth - and Nazareth did not exist at that time. Paul

You are to depend on CHRIST IN YOU, living HIS LIFE, not your own, nor using fleshly "techniques" to solve your problems... "The JC's are regarded as a cult because of their association with Dave, Please, please, please- can't some of you just write a new book and start again. You'd have more support than you can possibly imagine. ' Lo- with God, all things are possible.'" I agree wholeheartedly. Ditch the dodgy geezer and spread your message of freedom from the strangulation o

Since the first believers I encountered after my spiritual awakening in 72 were the Children of God, I have an abiding affinity for their original values and by extension the values espoused by the Jesus Christians (I see little difference). I have followed a radical kinda life for over 35 years now and am an accomplished "Freegan" howbeit I do not go dumpster diving any longer as my ol

Thanks for posting the you tube vids - it never ceases to amaze me how otherwise intelligent humane folks (like Jeff in the vids would seem to be) are duped by these guys. Even when they twist and squirm and are clearly evasive those followers see that as a mark of thei leader's integrity. I can only assume that they enter into a conceit of pride that somehow they are privvy to 'gr

Hi Richard, we share the same name except my middle name begins with a J. Anyhow, reading your post I can sympathise/empathise, I too have skills and knowledge that would surprise folks if they gave me a chance to display. The thing is, if you/we seek others' approval we are forever their servant. So cut loose, be yourself and if people don't recognise you for who you are then it&#

While that is a well argued piece, it leans heavily on the teachings of the Apostle Paul. It might be as well to appreciate that the Apostle Paul bears clear similarity to many cult leaders who appear in this site. Some typical examples: He has dubious antecedents and educational credentials, alters scripture to suit his own private revelations, initiates new practises for which he has (unprov

I read through this thread with interest: Though not having been to KCF I have attended a Charismatic Fellowship in my home town and many of the features/experiences described here coincided with my own - the names are different, the events similar. The classic moment for me was when they tried to cast out the 'demon of Error' from me (I did not believe in hellfire) and when that fa

That long list of cult attributes (above) could be ascribed to Christianity (as invented by Saul/Paul) - it is no surprise to me that so many cults are spawned from Pauline ideas since the cults bear the image of the matrix from which they emerge.

I tend to hold with Ezekiel 34 in the which pastors are castigated by 'The Lord' who says that He will lead and teach His flock and bring them to His 'holy mountain' since the teachers are in the way of His plans and exploiting the sheep. I also tend to groove on the scripture in Jeremiah that declares that 'cursed is the man that trusts in men' (17:7) - the Gree

oh yeah - a few years ago I encountered the Twelve Tribes - they had a sprout group near Nottingham, England. I visited them and was impressed by their demeanour, good food etc. So I arranged to spend a weekend with them. The weekend passed in a kind of happy blur - ostensibly they were the nicest 'christians' I had ever met but I knew intuitively they were dodgy. I did not like

I never quite fitted into any cults. And I tried, Brownie's Honour. In 1972 after my spiritual awakening, at my then wife's instigation, I went to the Children of God colony in Bromley (London) for a short while. I found the 'Mo' letters indigestible but liked the company of the disciples. Then they took the bible quotes off the walls and replaced them with Mo quotes. I s

In (aguably) the earliest Christian writing, The Didache, the believer is warned that if anyone prophesies that you should give them money or anything else then they are false. These hustlers have always been around, there is nothing new under the sun.
