Of course there are always some Americanisms that are slightly disturbing. Like when you guys say that you are rooting for your team. In Australia, rooting (or to have a root) is a ... shall we say ... a sexual thing. (NB: Also known here as "throwing a leg over") So you can only imagine the things that innocently come to mind at times. Ahh ... the joys of cultural exchange. :

Hey Elena, I think you've hit on something there. Would most probably apply to the New Age types as well as the odd Pentecostal (well known for wanting the power but not the discipline/accountability). Nancy, please write thousands of words. :-) John

Hi Nancy, I've only just read your post and I think you've raised a valid area of topic. I'm glad that you've posted what you have and would encourage you to continue to post (or just lurk) on the board. You've really given me some extra food for thought and I'm thankful you were good enough to post of your experiences here. John

FF, the more I read of you the more impressed I am. As it is I'm already a big supporter of single mums as I know they've already got it tough. And it's unrelenting. Just hang in there and don't burn out part way through the marathon. I think you're going to do just great ... and maybe even better. John

Did I ever tell you about the 6-pack of Mormon polygamy beer? "Why only have one?" John PS. This is a real product. Click here to see. Edit: Also ..... QuoteReagan Outdoor Advertising maintains the planned billboard — which features a picture of a scantily clad man, cherubs and a six-pack of wives — is in bad taste and exercised a “censorship” clause in its contract wi

Actually, there has been a historical development in this. The Mormon church has actually given an apology, as well as paying for their best historians (who have been given free reign of all documents with no censorship of the outcome) to produce a warts-and-all historical account of the event. You can read about it here. John

That reminds me of a bit of a thought/saying that I have. Don't worry about the neighbors thinking that you are weird. Once they know you're weird, you no longer have this to worry about. ... and you'll have an even greater freedom to be yourself. :-) No more pretenses. No more looking over your shoulder. No need to worry about what they think. John

In the true spirit of going completely off-topic, our new kid on the block Prime Minister has discovered why his predecessor refused to say an official "sorry" to the Aboriginals over the "stolen generation" saga. It wasn't to do with the moral side of things. The Aboriginals have just announced that a billion dollars would help them accept the national "sorry&qu

Please reply with which ones are/aren't funny, and any that you feel should be dropped (such as joke #4). Thanks in advance. John ------- Joke 1: Just read

Don't know if anyone else here will have information on this, but if you do discover anything further on the group then please add it here as an additional post. The information in this discussion forum is retained and becomes available to all others in the future, and it also shows up in Google search results. It's well worth the time.
