We are getting the word out; on this forum. It will be here when others are ready to see and read it. When breaking this kind of mind control (especially after so many years of being under it) its painful. When we were in pc everything was so urgent; so do or die; right now; never enough. They always have you afraid that you are being bitter, angry and rebellious when you don't comple

I think what you are feeling is normal and valid. I believe that you had good times and experiences there; I did too. There are still people their that I care about. When I think about going somewhere else and starting over after being their for so long its intimindating and frightening. I have weak ambivalent moments also. Eventhough the things I post happened and still continue to go on and

I would like to share some thoughts that have been coming to me; this may seem disjointed but they will be expressed the way the come out. Leadership in praise chapel - there is such a decline in the attendance at pc huntington park and so many people who were once in leadership coming to their senses about giving over their entire lives over to the church that they do not have enough leaders.

When you are part of a group like this for so long you become assimilated to their way of doing things and oftentimes have programmed responses that you give those who have decided to question or leave the group. Sometimes its not even about leaving its just you have been so indoctrinated you respond to people the way you have been responded to and think that you are just enlightened or spiritua

Its funny the longer I am out the better I feel. That feeling of never being good enough or not doing enough - that its my job to save the world - is disappearing. When I go out in public now I don't feel under condemnation. I don't look at people as totally lost and going to hell and that their blood is on my hands if I don't witness to them and invite them to church. I don

Back in the day when I was young and an overzealous new convert I thought nothing of putting in 40plus hours a week at church on top of the 40plus hr a week secular job I also had. Being an usherette, sunday school teacher, drama team, sheepfold, prayer meeting and then you just had to fellowship. I was at church ever week night and almost all day on Saturday and Sunday. We took our vacations

I remember that pastor Mike Neville had a standard response to people who said they were considering leaving - he said it directly to me and I heard it from others that I spoke to that he said the same thing to them: "This church made you who and what you are - why would you leave? You wouldn't be anything without this church?" But he would say it softly and you were already inti

My ex-husband got saved in praise chapel when he was sixteen; i was eighteen when i got saved. we basically grew up together and then a few years later we got married. Alot of pressure was put on us to get married by pastor mike and donna neville. I wanted to elope because i felt that it was becoming a big production but they insisted we get married at a Sunday night church service. The churc

I have to laugh. All over the internet it still says that praise chapel split from potter's house. Is it truly a split if the only thing that changes is who gets all the money? Is it truly a split if the doctrine, giving and ministry is still the same as when they were affiliated? With the exception of women being allowed to be pastors and the congregation can own a TV. I don't thi

I remember reading on several sights that when you decide to leave the fellowship be prepared to lose all your friends. Well, its true. But were they ever really your friends in the first place if your relationship was solely based on where you attend church? Its funny, if you didn't attend as much as they thought you should or be in ministry you were not considered faithful. When you di

There are so many directions I could go for this post. But the one that presses me the most is: Please think about what you are doing before you give this so-called church your money to "win the lost." We were taught to tithe off of our gross and income tax money - well any money we may have received. Think about it, if you have a couple hundred people give or take and all the other

i would like to clarify i meant there is an astounding rate of out of wedlock teen pregnancy amongst the offspring of headship at praise chapel and that it seems that its ok with much support given; however if its a teen mother who is not related to headship or one of the main families in the church the same response is not given

The last couple of days have been rough. I keep looking back and more things keep coming to me - one can't help but feel like a fool. There is the "Big Fellowship Picture" and the "Little Person Picture" mine of course is the little person. I have had alot of introspection lately - I guess I am getting to that point in my healing where I am able to see how I allowed th

The more I think about my experience in PC and read extensively about CFM/PH and Foursquare; the more I am convinced that PC is a carbon copy of CFM/PH. And Foursquare (who spawned CFM/PH) have turned a blind eye to both from the beginning. If you read the history of Foursquare (how it originated); what happened between them and Wayman Mitchell - its easy to see how all of this has evolved o

I'm glad you found this helpful. Its good you were able to get out in your 20's. I'm in my 40's and still working on forgiving myself for staying so long. As time goes by the veil is continuing to be removed from my eyes. It can be staggering when you truly see what you were living and believing. These fellowships are counterfeits to the Gospel. They in no way repres

I read on this site and another that when being a part of something like this for so long and then deciding to leave can be traumatic. I have good days and bad days. One of the main things that was described is a feeling of embarassment for allowing oneself to be deceived. Another that stood out was greiving for time that was lost; devoting so much of your life to something and then finally re

I was just reading some of the originating posts from Hawk in 2006 again. I'm glad I did because I began to feel I was being "over the top" in regards to my posts. Or posting too much. But I believe thats due to still doubting myself to a degree. One thing I've realized is that its still difficult to receive kindness and encouragement because for so long I have been told I

Months before I began posting on this sight I had found it and some others and read posts for hours. It took awhile before I could bring myself to post. Even now its still difficult at times but once I started something inside woke up and now things that I have held back for years are coming back to me. This phrase came to mind - it was a joke for some of us former praise chapelites: they use you, abuse you, then lose you. I wish I could that I am posting this just because of sour grapes; but anyone who knows what we know can pretty much stand in agreement. It really is the PC, Neville company slogan. Another slogan that they proudly shout from the pulpit: You should be in church every ti

RRModerator: ever notice how no one can answer your simple, straightforward questions regarding financial and pastoral accountability and transparancy? Everytime these questions are asked its like no one in favor of PCCF even acknowledges that they have been asked let alone answer them. Know why? Because they can't and instead of saying that they get defensive and turn the entire issue ba

I have re-read the firsts posts on this thread starting in 2005, 2006 and I have to comment on the "The Throw-Up Church" in Montebello. It pains me greatly to admit that I counseled with this pastor and partook of this so-called "Deliverance Ministry" several years ago in the early to mid-nineties. When people say that they put trash cans at the altar and prayed people into

In the past I had searched the web for Larry Neville and found his personal webpage - illustrating who he is and what he is about. Under the "Most Influential Men In My Life" he listed Wayman Mitchell as No. 2. I just checked it again and its still there. I find it interesting that on other websites he states how PCCF separated from Potter's House/CFM; yet Wayman Mitchell is

What is so amazing to me is that I do not have to sight examples within my post of what I am talking about because the people who are posting in favor of PCCF express it perfectly. They cannot answer straightforward questions of fiscal or pastoral accountabilty of a democratically elected church board because there isn't one. It is so far out of there scope of understanding they don't

"I've been a member of a PCCF church for about 8 years now. However, our church does not carry the 'Praise Chapel' moniker in our name." I am quoting altered pilot from his/her first post. If this is the case then I don't understand why you would even post on this particular site. In my opinion it doesn't make any sense. How are you a member of the fellows

I am having a difficult time going somewhere else - its hard to trust another church. I am seeking God for direction and have a few places in mind that I am going to try. It has been very difficult for me. I realize now that by investing so much time and effort in Praise Chapel for so long that I have alienated myself from my family, community and making friends outside the church. Leaving th
