I heard from someone who recently staffed several schools with bk. This is about the gift giving. Apart from wedding bands and stuff, guess what most people these days seem to regard as their most valuable possession? Their laptop of course!! Apparently the BKI offices and staff are now equiped with laptops that came from participants tricked into practicing detachment. I wonder if they erased th

More on ‘BK copyright’: The format of and idea for ‘Tao living in Harmony with the way things are’ is in no way originating from Byron Katie and/or Stephen Mitchell. In 1991, a book by Greg Johanson and Ron Kurtz called 'Psychotherapy in the spirit of the Tao-te ching' was published by Bell Tower (it was reprinted by Random House in 1994). It’s a book on the subject of psychotherapy th

Quote from Guruphilliac (http://guruphiliac.lefora.com/2009/03/23/byron-katies-school-for-the-work-march-09/page1/) "If anyone wanted Katie to address a particular concern of theirs, they had a note given to Katie by staff and she would usually, later, ask that person to stand and speak from where they sat. There just wasn't the warm and cuddly thing with Katie going on. In fact, s

I remember from years ago that Katie (on her tapes) used to refer to U.G. Krishnamurti a lot. She once said that he was the only human being she ever met that was in “her” state. I once met U.G. He appeared to be free, ruthless, uncompromising, tactless, rude and also funny in his own peculiar way. U.G. was totally not interested in creating any kind of philosophy, methodology, movement or follow

Check out this account of the school with bk. more and more exposing stories seem to be surfacing. Reading this one, you would have to conclude that sooner or later something will go terribly wrong there. In their arrogance they probably think they can deal with it.

I have been studying the Ken Keyes document a bit, the one that Janaki links to on her weblog. This is the last page of the document and it is interesting. In her comment Janaki calls this a ‘description of someone who has done the work’. I actually think it is a description of BK, that is to say, a description of how BK wants others to see her. Janaki writes in her story that she noticed a chang

Quotesolea13 Ken Keyes wrote a lot of books about the 'science of happiness' and apparently began claiming in the last years of his life that he lived in a state of permanent happiness. His apparently turbulent emotional life (he was divorced three or four times!) tells a different story! Parallel to Katie's story you mean? Stephen Mitchell being husband #3.

Re.: For more on Katie's 'glittering' eyes, people can read the 'Valentine's story' by her husband, Stephen Mitchell (...) (by: solea13, Date Added: 05/30/2008) A footnote, for completists, to Stephen Mitchell’s Valentine’s Story : What isn't mentioned in his ‘glittering eyes story’ in which Byron Katie takes Stephen’s hand to hold it, is that he was actuall
