QuoteStoicThis might sound a bit BKish but you have covered it here: "The answer is for humans to try to learn how to use their mind, and thinking skills, and intelligence, and emotional intelligence, more effectively." How "might" this statement be BK-ish? That sounds quite strange to me. I'm remembering another statement you made here earlier, in this post. That t

QuoteMeadowHave you ever taken a lot of morphine or saw someone who took a lot of morphine? It is not a lot of fun. BK is basically telling this woman to put herself into a coma. Can you imagine the nausea and the vomitting that could happen? And then she posts this on a public weblog as if she is proud of it. Is this allowed? That is ghastly. Thanks for the info Meadow.

Below is a link to a harrowing account of depersonalization. I found it on the recently mentioned RichardDawkins.net's message board. The person describes a horrifying prolonged state of extreme depersonalization, triggered by involvement with information put forth by "self-improvement" guy Steve Pavlina (yes, another "Steve"): [Help Overcoming Solipsism]

QuoteThe AnticultThere are actually very few "ideas" in the Byron Katie system, the NonDual stuff is really more about just creating confusion in people, which is the primary technique. For example, the 4 Questions operate like the worm on a fish-hook, to get people to bite into them, and then BK can reel them in, one step at a time. The 4 Questions of Byron Katie have been debunked

Thank you, RR. I feel it is important to say something about a discovery one of us made pertaining to some recent postings. I am not going to name any names or provide any links re this, but I will say that it appears somebody here has thought they have pulled a fast one over on us. Why? Heaven knows. Below is an excerpt from a recent blog entry made by someone who appears to have joine

Yet another interesting tidbit: just yesterday Byron Katie's blog featured what is essentially a lengthy promo for the school: The School for The Work: An Account By Richard Lawrence Cohen Richard Lawrence Cohen is said to be a novelist. Could it be that his BK school review is also a work of fiction?! Stranger things have happened in these waters...

QuoteChristaThis Ultimate Coach guy -- did anyone else notice he obtained a degree from the University of Santa Monica in 2001? Isn't that John-Roger's place? MSIA? Seems to be. Wiki says John-Roger "is the founder and chancellor of the University of Santa Monica (USM), an unaccredited institution offering master's degrees in Spiritual Psychology and Consciousness, Health &

Why are you getting pissy, "Stoic"? (Go ahead and deny you are.) What is your actual purpose in being here? For someone who protests they have "no interest in at all", you seem quite interested in engaging me. That shows at least some interest. So it seems that at least re that, you have not been exactly truthful. Also, I merely said that "perhaps" a c

I've discovered that a seemingly female entity has recently commented on the first Guruphiliac blog entry about Byron Katie (dated 02/23/08). That person in their comment mentions the Stoics. Am noticing this with some interest, since we have someone new in our midst going by the name "Stoic".

QuoteStoicI don't speak for Kassy or for BK or for anyone else, for that matter, except myself. Extreme positions of any kind carry extreme risk. 'Go for it with all you've got' sounds like an extreme position to me and a recipe for tunnel vision as well as an open invitation for any shrewd operator to take advantage. Hmmm. How fascinating that this thread about BYRON

But... what if you really go to town with "the work" and in the long run end up going.... crazy? ' There is no suggestion to go for it with all you've got. Incorrect, there most certainly is such a suggestion from Ms. Katie. A quote from her websit

Kassy, if you believe that Byron Katie's "work" is "about questioning thinking", then I'm sure you won't mind if any of us here question your thinking... You say: But the tantrum, the outrage that the British should not kill people is useless, because they are. To say that a tantrum is useless is an interesting thought, but one I take issue with. This just in... Steve Salerno has announced, via a comment on his blog: QuoteWell, after the holiday, once I get a few lingering loose ends tied up, I'm going to see if I can get some magazine to underwrite a full-out investigation of Katie and her minions. If nothing else, this mini-firestorm has convinced me that it's time to stop procrastinating and get it done. Now, the
