Marjo, I never said Guru G was or was not a cult leader. All i'm saying about the video is dabcult provides no real evidence either way by focusing on beliefs rather than her practices, such as her handling of criticism and disclosure of private information. Although I feel there are exceptions, in general I agree with Rick Ross and other cult experts that behavior -- not belief -- is w

I'm not sure all Dabcult's points are the best. Guru G is responding to him now because she *can* counter his arguments, such as those about eating meat and misc. beliefs and so forth. She's right in that it has nothing to do with whether she's running a cult. His points about double standards from the guru regarding celibacy and her "puppy dog" followers are inte

I went ahead and created a video about Guru G, and posted it to youtube. (link here) This one concerns her policies towards confidentially and her handling of criticism. I am planning on making more videos about her practices. Originally I was planning on adding more to this video but it was just too long. Since Guru G was not willing to debate on Skype, perhaps she will be willing on YouTube

QuoteGuru Patrolmmoderator: "So Swami G "is a SatGuru" and the Dalai Lama is "not enlightened." And Swami G not only sings, she somehow can also send out "transmissions" and you received an "immense transmission." Corboy, to me it doesn't appear simply leaving is enough to provoke the wrath of Guru G outside the group. It appears she only does that if people speak out after leaving. If you leave quietly, she'll only bash you in private. That being said, your advice is good advice. Unless you want a public spat with the Guru, leaving quietly is advisable. You can still speak up anonymously af

NicholasRehl, You say you believe that words could not harm a SatGuru. It sounds like a SatGuru is an enlightened, peaceful person who shrugs off criticism, however false or injust. I'm just having trouble applying that to Guru G. She's shown again and again in the past, as you admit, that she will attack others and release personal information about them. Wouldn't an enligh

I've received several answers via PMs to my questions, with permission to post them here: QuoteAnonymousQ. I'm, curious about this Kali reference i keep hearing about. What's the deal with that. Does Guru G claim to be some incarnation or somesuch of Kali? A. Kali is some sort of Hindu god or demi-god. Kali the Destroyer, specifically, is Swami G's declared "embodim

Also, one more question: Would you say that there was an obsessive demand to confess things to Guru G? How were these disclosures used?

Richar, Is there any credible third party who can verify your account and your agenda? For example, a friend of mine who is in the final stages of making a documentary about an unrelated cult has a number of connections to different cult experts and advocates who can corroborate her agenda. She also had many pre-existing connections to ex-members of the group and a long history of speaking o

Richar, Surely you must understand the need for caution when dealing with cults and cult-like groups. How is one to know what your agenda truly is? I mean you could just be here to collect information on former members by deceiving them into talking to you, then use that information against them. Even If you're a novice video editor like you seem to be, who is to say you're agenda

Also. I would recommend against a lawsuit, as you're a public figure defamation law works a bit differently in the US. You would not only have to prove that LivingEngine lied about you, but also that he did so with "reckless disregard" for the truth, which in English means that you would have to prove that he doubted the truth of what he said. Because proving somebody's minds

Eric, I've already argued much of what you've just recounted. I remember reading about you being linked as the filmmaker by the Pakistani paper when the whole Muhammad video debacle went down. I don't doubt it was carried by other papers in Pakistan as well. It was mentioned on Robert Spencer's site as well as that of David Horowitz. I, personally, don't doubt your

Guru G has once again refused to debate me. She claims that she emailed me. She lied, or got the wrong email address (which I find hard to believe since I've given it to her multiple times). I've checked my spam folder and there is nothing there. The only response given was via YouTube, a video I was not notified about until I found it myself days later. In it she read off a messag

Batshit crazy, yes. Brainwashing, no. You don't get brainwashed by reading a book or a site on the internet. You can, however, get lured into an organization that will, in fact, brainwash you (for example, Dianetics, leading to Scientology, or "What the bleep" leading to Rathma). That doesn't appear to be what's happening here (though anything is possible). It's

The group I was in was descended from another group was in turn descended from a fairly well known cult that was ultimately split up by the authorities. All of the leaders of the "clones" had been ex-members who had either seen the profitability of the enterprise or had genuinely believed they had the best way to help people. I've never been truly sure what exactly was the mix, b

QuoteThe AnticultIt looks like all of the internal links within the site, and external links to the site will become dead links. The internal links are relatively simple to fix with a search and replace performed on both the database and any html flies. If Rick Ross needs any help, I can point him in the right directly for that. As far as external links go, you're right, but based on the

Fair enough, but from my reading of Singer I get the distinct impression that she believes thought reform must be carried out on a subject that is at the very least unaware of how he/she is being changed. I mean her first condition, out of 6, is to keep a person unaware of how they are being changed. Granted Lifton's themes don't have this element, but Singer does seem to see this as

Maybe you can answer this, Rick, as I've never really been clear on this distinction between a destructive cult and a non-destructive cult. Isn't the inherently deceptive thought reform process and the side effects of that enough by itself to be considered "destructive"? And if thought reform isn't used by a group, why call it a cult at all? Is it implied that thought

SeekingTruth, sale of a domain name would not give anybody the rights to the contents of the server. Domain registers and hosting are often even completely seperate entities. For example, one of my websites is hosted in the US while the registrar for the name is in Canada. I did this so I would be subject to the international system for any domain disputes.

Guru G has posted a response to my request to debate here, in which she makes fun of my username and calls this forum a cult. She claims she tried to contact me with a response (she read out in the video), but I never received it. Perhaps my email adress was mis-copied and pasted or otherwise lost in the translation. I'll consider it possible but unlikely. Here is my response: Guru G.

Well. A follower of Guru G has let me know that she has been forwarded my request to debate her. She has my email address but still has not responded. I can only imagine she is justifying her refusal to debate me by bashing me in private to her followers. I would therefore invite me to do so pubicly. If she has allegations to make against me, let her level them here, or anywhere. I don'

I would suggest setting up a redirect from the old domain and not selling it. Selling it could potentially lead to somebody else appropriating the domain and using it to publish content that could be used to make Rick Ross look bad. Remember CAN. I assume this is what Rick plans on doing.

To answer a question I posted earlier in a thread: Somebody has let me know what a Gratitude Journal is. Apparently it's a journal her students are required to keep in which they write at least one thing a day they are grateful for.
