I was in the Diamond Way cult for just under two years. They brainwashed me, and it took for me to stop doing their practises for me to break free of this brainwashing. I am now back in contact with other former members and other people they wouldn't let me speak to while I was in the cult. I feel somewhat ashamed that i was taken advantage of, but I also feel richer from the experience,

The NKT are very cult-like, and I would advise you to steer well clear of them. As a former member of another cult that claims to be Buddhist (namely Ole Nydahl's Diamond Way group), I have experience and can sniff out dodgy Sanghas.

This is very interesting to me because I was a member of the Diamond Way cult which used very similar techniques with hypnosis and brainwashing disguised as meditation. The 'meditation' is often used in cults to increase suggestibility, where you are then fed more dogma, because you are more likely to accept it in that state. That was my experience, anyway. Interesting post above

Here is my response regarding the secrecy of these books... In DW you have to get an 'empowerment' from 'Lama' Ole Nydahl where he basically rambles on some Tibetan mumbo jumbo and touches a bit of metal on your head. You have to do a different one of these before being allowed to do any of these meditations. You have to go to separate lectures for each of these 'empow

davidlondon and krampapa are both trolls sent by this cult (and probably the same person too!), as evidenced by the fact they are new members and have only posted in this thread. This proves my point about members being told to 'correct' information online. It also proves my point about them harassing former members. On top of the posts here, I have also been receiving harassing and thr

Being a former member, I can speak from experience that these documents are not authentic dharma, and are kept secret until members are sufficiently brainwashed. The practices get weirder and weirder, and the Diamond Way cult must realise this. The cult knows full well that if people saw this from the start, they'd run a mile! Hiding your real beliefs in this way is a typical hallmark of a c

Books the cult doesn't want you to see: These are kept secret until a member is sufficiently brainwashed.

Hari Krishna is a Hindu cult, not Buddhist or Taoist. Another Buddhist cult in NYC is Diamond Way.

Has anyone else had any experience with this cult that claims to be Buddhist? I am a former member, and during my time inside the group (about 2 years), i experienced sexual abuse, extreme pressure to donate money people didn't have, and guilt if it was not donated, or if the sexual abuse was reported. If it was reported to anyone else in the group, it was dismissed, and said to be the ab
