My spouse left our family 9 months ago to be closer to their cult leader and to 'follow their vision'. Recently we agreed on a trial separation. Even more recently I realized that this is a cult that I am dealing with. I will meet with my family law lawyer in a couple of days. What questions do I need to ask my lawyer and what do I need to be aware of in separating from someone who is under the control of a cult? I am living in the family home and taking care of our two young children and looking for a job. My spouse has so far continued to pay our expenses.

So sorry for what you're going through, Cult Widow. This is an older post, but I believe you'll be better off without the person who left you and the family for a cult leader. Hope things are getting better for you by now.
