What does SFIC stand for?

I told you I'm not good with acronyms.

Just venture a guess.

Well, I have an answer that is only three words, rather than the necessary four.

What is it?

Shit-faced in Christ.

Good enough.

"who charges people to attend a funeral?"

FROMSOUTHCHICAGO, I'm glad you asked about Marilyn's funeral because it's something I have thought of posting about on here for some time. I was there and it was very, very odd. One, we had to pay to attend. No kidding. We were told we had to register if we wanted to attend the funeral, and pay $40 per person to "cover costs". I found this extremely bizarre and supremely tacky. Who charges people to attend a funeral?? Especially considering the Hargraves have a ton of money.

Two, besides Marilyn's immediate family (Rick, Marti, Gary, and granddaughter Kaylin) the leaders/shepherds from all of the churches were a part of the processional and recessional in the church, and then at the graveside they had all of the chairs surrounding the immediate area cordoned off. Only VIP were allowed to sit in the chairs, and they had someone placed at the entrance of this sectioned off area to allow or disallow people to sit in the seats. Even though there were a ton of empty seats, the rest of us minions were given standing room only OUTSIDE of the roped off area. In typical TLWF fashion it was very exclusive. It felt very uncomfortable.

Three, Rick did a "Twenty-One Gun Salute" for Marilyn with fire crackers (you know the ones that just make a loud BOOM), simulating what they do for members of the Military who pass on. I was deeply offended by it, because in my opinion that is reserved only for those who have served in the Armed Forces. It seemed highly inappropriate to me and came off very awkward.

Four, at the reception everyone was completely shitfaced. I have not seen so many people wasted at a church function before. I mean, in LA it's kind of par for the course to see people drunk at functions, but this was just over the top. It was all just very, very strange in every regard.

You asked about Marti. She was kicked out of the church for being gay. Apparently it's okay for Rick to have four extra-marital affairs and exhibit grossly inappropriate behavior towards women and STILL be in leadership, but it's not okay to be gay. A huge double standard.

References to the Catholic church, and the different stance JRS had vs. G & M:

I think it was when I started hearing entire groups (like the catholic church, government officials, businesses, etc) 'judged' as being satan in the earth, the whore of babylon, the Nephilim, or whoever the bad guy of the night was...and all sorts of death and destruction 'prophesied' to their detriment, it seemed a bit hitleresque, very violent and had little to do with concepts of God and Love that i had found to be real so far in my young life at the time."

If you have ever read the book "Babylon, Mystery Religion" you will notice that it is nearly identical to the First Principles lesson on Babylon. I am now of the opinion that John lifted that whole teaching from that book or other similar sources for that particular chapter. G & M have been trying to sanitize the FP for years to make it suitable for a wider audience.

I've missed the antecedent to this Catholic phase of The Walk v.3. Has that chapter on Catholicism been removed from The First Principles or edited? After all the other segues over the last couple of decades, what is the fascination? Yeah, yeah, same Father, One Universal Church, yada yada. But why now? I am truly flummoxed.

If you have an old copy of the First Principles, there is a lesson about Babylon in there. I recall that it read exactly like the book "Babylon Mystery Religion", which claimed that Babylon was the Roman Catholic church.

However, sometime in the 90's the LW reissued a new edition of the First Principles, and most of this lesson had been sanitized to soften the anti-RC teaching. I never saw this new edition, so I can't comment on how much got removed. I discarded my LW literature years ago.

As time passed connecting with several priests, seminary students, and other evangelical pastors; soon it was time for Hargrave to speak. Throughout his ten-minute message about oneness in the Body of Christ and the special placing of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in affecting all of Christianity, the crowd continually cried out cheers of approval to what Hargrave was saying.

Note: I've never experienced "cheers of approval" from anything I said in church, except once when I prophesied the service would be over soon.

I believe that JRS is rolling in his grave. After all, he talked about the Catholic church being mystery Babylon. Not that I necessarily agree. It's all baloney if you ask me. Just sayin'.

Great synopsis, Changed. It seemingly happened almost overnight. The Catholic church was Mystery Babylon. And then, shortly after Pope John Paul had passed, Gary was suddenly interested in who the new pope would be. So crazy!

You'll laugh! You may cry. It will definitely make you think. And then laugh some more. Be sure to watch this end of the first season episode of Oops! I'm In A Cult.

I need to get out of here, now!

O.K.--you have two options. Iowa city or China.

Uhh...it's probably a mistake, but I'm going with Iowa city.

What you see, you shouldn't trust.

So that 400 lb guy on the platform wearing a Hawaiian shirt is not real?

Exactly! My favorite part of this episode was when Scott and Charity shared tidbits from This Week inserts that someone had saved. Lots of End Time prep (shudder) stuff. Did I ever mention that my first year teaching in the "kingdom school", a few days before Thanksgiving, the teachers were all required to bring their classes and line them up along the chain link fence that separated the schoolyard from a "farm" next door. As my second graders and I and the whole school watched, the hippie church member who lived next door brought out a live turkey and chopped it's head off. Ghastly. I'm still recovering after 47 years. I hope the kids were ok. Who does that?

So sick, Reep. Good thing we never celebrated (officially) Christmas, since he might have been tempted to slay one of the reindeer in front of the kids. Hopefully, not Rudolph. Sadists will be sadists. I guess this even applies to hippies.

Note: Fortunately, I never had the 'pleasure' of meeting this person you're referring to. Heard a lot about him, though--none of it good.
