"Helping" tsunami victims the Landmark way

he old adage “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts” may be useful to Tsunami survivors receiving attention from some specious sects and groups called “cults.”
Just like in the movie Troy something sinister and/or self-serving can be concealed in a "gift horse," and it’s probably not Brad Pitt.
In recent days a growing array of controversial religious organizations, gurus and self-styled healers have launched efforts for Tsunami relief, but who are they really focused upon helping?
Do their programs reflect a genuine desire to assist the victims of the most horrific catastrophe of the 21st Century, or are they just there to play the disaster for publicity and possibly some new recruits?

Well, Landmark has launched right into the relief effort, asking people to enroll folks into Landmark seminars to "help":

"In Profound Grace and consistent to the stand that we are, in the face
of so many deaths and devastations, every new city where we deliver the
Landmark Forum is left untouched by the tsunami. We request your
support to share, to touch and move - and register someone, anywhere,
but especially someone in Asia in the next three months as the game to play
to contribute to the relief effort that makes THE difference to
rebuilt, shape, reinvent the future in Asia.

Give someone the Gift of Possibility:

Where does landmark's postivisit notion that the outside world doesn't exist fit in with the Tsunami?
I'm sure over 150,000 people didn't create the 'possiblity' that they would perish in an unforseen natural disaster
They make me so angry...how on earth enrolling in the Landmark Forum would help a Thai villager is beyond me

This can't be serious, can it? That is so blatant. The thought is sinking in that it is serious, and what makes it most frightening is that as blatant as it is, most Landmarians would buy right direction into it, unquestioned.

It's the same mentality as the 'Hunger Project'.

Indeed. I've already have one chastise me for being so "negative" about Landmark's wanting to "help" with their version of "leadership."

LEC immediately offered a discounted rate on the Forum in NYC after 9/11. Get people when they're most vulnerable and exploit the hell out of them is the name of the game.
