I thought I saw something on this board about the practice of Tai Chi being listed as a cult.

I thought that a cult had to have a religious foundation, particularly opposed to orthodox Christianity.

Any comments?

A "cult" would not be defined by its theology, but rather by its behavior.

See [www.culteducation.com]

Also see [www.culteducation.com]

A cult's stated beliefs or the supposed purpose of its existence might be politics, therapy, protection of the environment, art, a marketing concept, commercial enterprise and/or a composite of almost anything.

There are some evangelical Christians that define the term "cult" based upon their own theology, but this is not an objective way to define the word.

Tai Chi is a system. There are books on how to read the fennel stalks but no hierarchy, doctrine or organisation.
