Applied Scholastics Intl is one of Scientology's many organizations, using the L Ron Hubbard-developed Study Tech (see here and here and here studytech.org.

It is currently being used as a Supplemental Educational Service provider in eleven states.

That means, under No Child Left Behind, that they are one of the companies hired to provide tutoring to underperforming public schools.

Applied Scholastics has been sending all kinds of information to our church. First it was a DVDs promoting it as an after school program that they would bring in partner with a church to promote "Applied Scholasitcs" in our area. It looks like they are targeting areas with large minority populations. We are also getting cards from them, again promoting and showing local ministers that support Applied Scholastics and have the program in those churches.
