Doctor sues after giving 'guru' £750k

By ROSS MCGUINNESS - Wednesday, July 8, 2009

A doctor who gave away an estimated £750,000 to a spiritual healing group he joined has launched a legal bid for millions of pounds in damages.

Dr Yehu Azaz says he was 'unduly influenced' by guru Rena Denton into donating all his money and assets.

The 50-year-old also gave up a promising medical career to work at the centre for little or no pay, the High Court in London heard.

He is suing the centre and Mrs Denton for breach of contract and personal injury, including lost earnings.

Dr Azaz and his now ex-wife Lizanne joined the Self Realization Meditation Healing Centre, in Queen Camel, near Yeovil, Somerset, in 1992.

He was allegedly discouraged from speaking to family and handed his assets to the centre - a registered charity, run by Mrs Denton, also called Mata Yogananda Mahasaya Dharma.

He left in 2003 and suffered a nervous breakdown shortly after, barrister Evan Ashfield told the court. Mrs Denton, 78, and the centre deny any wrongdoing and insist Dr Azaz acted of his own free will.

The court must also decide if Dr Azaz has brought his case too late. The case continues.

This shows how easily even the supposed intelligent and critical thinking of professionals can be sucked into a pernicious cult and lose not only his mind but all of his finances. These cults stop at nothing to extract as much cash from members as possible whilst destroying their minds with brainwashing.

It is well known that these cults use 'free' intro. sessions on meditation and yoga to hook vulnerable folk into their organisations, then they indoctrinate them with false ideals and promises of personal growth, even using free love aka sex as a bait. To see what I mean simply go to the website at:

There you will see the classic offerings of meditation and yoga to suck unwitting folks into the cult.

These cults then emphasise that continued involvement is necessary, indeed mandatory, and that ever more expensive workshops are required to progress from one level, to the next level, and then the next, with the emphasis that they must be done in order.

Then having thoroughly extracted maximum cash and screwed their minds, butnperhaps when the penny has dropped that the cult does not actually offer anything, they spit the happless members out of the org. without any support.

Cults responsible for this exploitation of the vulnerable include: Tantra especially Osho-based, Osho (Rajneesh) incl. Humaniversity, Human Awhoreness Institute, Scientology, Moonies, 3HO, Miracle of Love, Landmark, Mankind Project (and its Boys for Men/Men for Boys programme), etc.

Details of most of the cults to be aware of, and avoid like the plague can, of course, be found at [www.culteducation.com] and [forum.culteducation.com]

Hopefully the guy will win the case, its about time these unscrupulous organisations became accountable for the damage they do to people and there families. Ki Global / Ki Health International should also be added to the list mentioned above of groups that exploit vulnerable people.
