Omega Ministries & Church Center is a hyper-patriarchal, militant structured cult located in Atlanta, Georgia. The group is led by its charismatic leader, Gary C. Price and undergirded by his wife, Barbara A. Price. Even though they are locally small, many recruits from across the United States have become involved with this group via the internet. Their presence is predominantly heavy on Facebook, YouTube, Livestream, and the various websites listed toward the end of this post, with plans on expanding to Instagram and Tik Tok.
This excerpt is a summary regarding the foundation of the “ministry”: “His ministry began in 1984 after God prophetically called him to remove barriers that Satan has constructed to separate God from His people. The main obstacle to be removed, he believes, is religious bondage to man-centered organizations. Therefore, he has diligently sought the Lord for guidance on how to go about initiating the end-time deliverances to set the Body of Christ free.”
This is worth noting and does sounds great in theory. The problem here is the “main obstacle to be removed, he believes” is the very thing Omega Ministries & Church Center is. Gary and Barbara Price inflict “religious bondage” in this “man centered organization”. There is no difference in them from any other religious structure or man-centered organization: Sunday church service, Wednesday night Bible Study, the selling of merchandise, book signings, and conferences held 2-3 times a year. What they use to separate themselves is “deliverance service” (the casting out of demons). Unfortunately, the same individuals (foundational members, with strict focus on the women) endure deliverance service week after week with the casting/calling out of the same demons.
The founder’s goal: achieving complete mental/spiritual dominance and control over his followers’ minds without physically looking like a destructive group or cult. Him and his wife’s witchcraft/sorcery are hard to detect due to their knowledge of the Word of God. God's Word is the "smoke and mirrors" used to deflect from the evil within them. Please understand the worst happens behind the scenes when their production is not being broadcast via the internet on Sunday, Wednesday nights, and during their conferences.
Using Rick’s template (Ten Warning Signs of a Potentially Unsafe Group/Leader), here is an outline of why this group is unsafe and needs to be steered clear of.
1. Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability: In the structure of this cult, you have your charismatic leader with “qualified elders and deacons” in the governing body. This is an absolute facade. These “elders” and “deacons” protect and uphold his teachings, theories, and theologies. They are his “yes” men who NEVER challenge him for fear of being lashed across the pulpit or being called out indirectly in his next Sunday sermon.
2. No tolerance for questions or critical thinking: There is no questioning him. If you do “critical think”, it should line up with his doctrine, teachings, or those individuals he puts before you, whether alive or deceased. (Through video/audio presentations)
3. No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement: There are multiple money schemes within this cult. Dunamis Tabernacle (the most prominent of them all), is a vision for a “24 hour/7 day a week basecamp to forge and equip an army of saints to do an end time work.” Individuals are solicited to support and donate to this mission through numerous Facebook fundraisers, CashApp, websites, and weekly discussions during Sunday service/Wednesday Bible studies. Multiple buildings around the Atlanta, Georgia area have been viewed and surveyed with video presentations. This has been a continuous endeavor, now going into its ninth year. Weekly updates were given off and on; gradual increases of funds with sudden drastic decreases yielding no down payment/purchase on any building. Since July 2015, the main two expenses are hosting a meeting every Sunday in a hotel conference room (averaging $350 a week paid for by offerings given that particular Sunday) and a Livestream subscription. In several “Man Up” meetings hosted by this organization, men in the ministry were asked to be “pillars of what God is about to raise up”. Next came the soliciting of personal information (i.e., social security numbers, credit scores). The plan is to place the responsibility of purchasing this building on the men and their families outside of the money already being contributed week after week. Questions began to arise from multiple supporters wanting to see evidence and proof (i.e., statements) regarding this account and what this money is being used for. To this day, no public financial statements have been produced. Inquirers are met with answers such as, “You’re questioning the money because you want some of it.”, “If you want to know about the money, call me.” or, “God is going to finance His operation. We are just going to hang around until we get the green light.” There needs to be a financial audit/investigation on this 501(c) (3) conducted by someone outside of this cult. Many contributions come from individuals who live in other areas across the United States and other countries. There are no audited financial statements available anywhere online for these contributors to view.
4. Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies, and persecutions: This statement itself will be labeled as “persecution”. The Price’s view of the organization being the “true church” automatically brings “persecution”. Those who are under the spell of their witchcraft/sorcery tactics believe the same. Most of the “persecution” they will come up against is from the “false church”. Anyone who states Omega Ministries & Church Center as being the “false church” is automatically labeled a “false convert”, “unsaved”, “cannot see the vison,” “blind”, “demonic”, etc.
5. There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong for leaving, negative, or even evil: To add to Rick’s list, former members/followers or anyone who leaves or speaks out against Omega Ministries are labeled “Jezebel”, “Ahab”, “witchcraft working devils”, “sodomites”, “whores”, “sissies”, “sorcerer”, etc.
6. Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances: The main grievances are as follows- slander, gossip, partiality treatment, sowing discord, bearing false witness, no willingness to repent, lying, and using the Bible for witchcraft and sorcery.
7. There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader: Because this is a smaller cult flying under the radar, there has only been two books speaking out against this group- “The Omega Network: The Soldiers of Darkness” and “The Witchcraft Gospel: The Most Deadly of All False Gospels”, both written by Marq Jones.
8. Followers feel they can never be good enough:
“You are going to be accountable for everybody God called you to save, and you didn’t. You were given a responsibility to save people and you did nothing. There are sins of commission and omission. Think about what you didn’t do standing in front of Him (Jesus Christ) when He asks you about your lineage that you didn’t bring in that you should have. Their blood is going to be on your hands. Judgement day is going to be heavy, and you don’t want to be standing there with your name not in the book of life. Your name can be expunged and blotted out. You having no lineage yields you being an arrested person, mentally ascending to something you are not. How long can you live like that? Coming in here week after week with the seat empty beside you. Looking silly. You’re basically a waste of time. We collectively are under a curse because of it.” – Gary Price (This is just one example he has spoken on multiple occasions during his announcements.)
9. The group/leader is always right: One of his main statements is “I’m right!” which is stated throughout the history of his messages.
10. The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or receiving validation; no other process of discovery is acceptable or credible: In his mind he is the bearer of “ultimate truth”, while using, twisting, and exploiting The Word of God for his own personal gain. Gary Price is surrounded by those he has hypnotized into believing his “truth”, who ultimately have received “revelations” which co-sign and undergird him. His whole tactic is to put forth others inside and outside of Omega (whether alive or deceased) who solidify his “truth”.
