Part of my ongoing therapy has been getting to know the dictionary all over again. Online dictionaries make this task so much easier. And today, the word of the day seemed so fitting. Quotewww.m-w.com The Word of the Day for September 28 is: traduce o \truh-DOOS\ o verb *1 : to expose to shame or blame by means of falsehood and misrepresentation 2 : violate, betray Example sentenc

Please remember at this time you will be vulnerable to what you read. It is best to see an exit counselor to help prevent you from becoming trapped by other ideologies. I'm talking from experience. These sorts of groups, whether a church or LGAT, condition minds to be more passive to suggestion. It's best to undo this by seeing a professional who is familiar with exit counseling.

I remember the first time I saw "Dr" Phil on Oprah. I just thought, "Oh I've seen this shit before" and turned it off pretty quick. In fact, I haven't watch Oprah since. The cover of his diet book bewilders me because he's not thin. I hate the way the American Dream is advertised. I was never taught the American Dream was for conspicuous consum

liebnitz is just a flamer who only wants to discredit us. It's more than obvious from his posts that all he wants to do is plug Sterling. Obviously since he loves them so much, he must try to discredit our knowledge anyway he can. Apparently educating himself is beyond his reach since he's in brainwash mode thanks to Sterling. Really, liebnitz, don't think we haven't re

Savernake, the link below has a history of LGATs. I'm not sure of its accuracy, but if it's wrong, I'm sure the moderators will correct me. I found it quite interesting. I'm not sure what TM is, but from the behavior you described in your other posts, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was a LGAT or cult. I'm sure you hate New Women, but the fact your

I think all the old world nations telling us how much we suck gets to us. I've been to Europe and can say we really are not all that different. But from America's inception, this land was seen as nothing more than resources for the European countries. God forbid if we ever produce anything of quality as far as they are concerned, and when we do it is just knocked down anyway. It is

I don't understand it either, Hope. My major realization is it takes time to admit to yourself you were scammed, which is why akira says take the course but say no to everything else. Unfortunately the course is often held without blame, very much how the guru is held without blame (Thanks Corboy!!!!). But ex-participants always blame the extremists' behavior on the individua

Quotejohn-lockeAre you a mental health professional? Or are you just speaking from your experience as a patient? So one may only be qualified to judge a professional's behavior if they themselves are associated with said profession? Well then, who would be qualified to judge anyone really? Sterling did landmark courses. I'm not sure to what extent he was involved, but it must have been fairly extensive for him to make his own courses. Just goes to show how unoriginal the "grads" can be. le doesn't know how to live up to the education part of their name.

Kudos to you, Sylvia, for saying No!!!! I read Breaking the Bonds when it first came out. Actually I owe a lot of thanks to Self magazine. Their article, "White-Collar Cults, They Want Your Mind" really helped me put everything together. Even though I had been away from landmark for a while when the article came out, I was having a hard time making sense of it all. That article conf

QuoteCosmophilospherThat must be a technique of Thought Reform. Take a complex idea from a "famous Genius" so you get Credibility, use the same word he used, but totally pervert and change the MEANING and usage of that word to whatever suits the Cult Leader's interests. I remember being so focused on the FL that I completely forgot about the people next to me and especially the people in the back of the room. I remember focusing so hard because the seating was uncomfortable and I knew I had a long weekend ahead of me, because I wanted to block out the people sitting way to close to me and because I thought I needed to listen since the speaker was so pronounced.

Well, since the WizardofOz is confused to what is actually happening at LEC and felt the need to coerce one of our board members to get his post posted, I decided I would clear a few things up for him. Below are the real LEC definitions of the values LE professes: Being extraordinary! = Being a LEC volunteer, being LEC staff, being a Forum leader AND coercing others to take the courses S

Though I wasn't involved with a religious cult, I understand where you're coming from in many ways. I was also only 19 years old when I began my involvement with landmark education. I too loved alternative music and never really felt normal or belonged to any group or clique. I also had a good sense of spirituality, far more than anyone around me expect for my dad, maybe. I wanted t

Maybe that should be bad wine in a new bottle. :D Ever since my experiences I have questioned if any such life coach is really necessary. Really, I think all these LGATs are the WORST America has to offer as a "product." Truly, it's capitalism at its most seedy. They totally abused our laws of religious freedom and freedom of speech. I was never for censorship, but the
