"Fifty years ago Phelps would probably have been a grand poo-bah in the KKK offending black people. " forty years ago, fred phelps was in court fighting for the rights of black people, which was a good thing. he is continuing his civil rights work. and the way he's working now is much more effective.

"It turns out that Fred Phelps is not a Baptist Minister, his actions, however, do raise sympathy for the homosexual cause and at the same time bring into disrepute and ridicule the Christian faith. Further, according to Wikipedia and Kansas Voter View, Mr. Phelps is a registered Democrat who ran in five Kansas Democratic primaries including Senator and campaigned for the then Senator Al Go

i do not believe that the phelps clan is anti-gay at all. i believe they are pro-gay and that everything they do promotes the "gay agenda". their mission is to make all Christians who believe the Bible and oppose "gay rights" appear hate-filled, ignorant and evil. for a long time, i had assumed they were simply insane, but they are too well organized, too dedicated, and to

here's something that you might find interesting: so oprah wants everyone to believe that your thoughts create reality, right? has anybody noticed what her new book club selection is? Cormac Mccarthy's latest novel, "the Road". "the Road" is a post-apocalyptic story about a father and son trying to survive nuclear winter. all life on earth, except for human be

Mark, if all you've written here is true, then i agree with you. this is a cult. i really hope others come forward and tell their stories. having read about oddball groups all my life, it's strange to me that i've never heard of them. some of the things you've said about her really remind me of William Branham. thanks for the info.

Truthseeker: i'm really glad to read that you are free. i am not a present or former cult member and i don't have a degree in psychology or anything like that, but i have been reading, just out of my own peculiar general interest, about cults for 30 years. And i want to join with the other post to ask you not to blame yourself for being "fooled" - though i do think it

if working for your state is like it is where i work, once you've put in your probation, you can get on an "inner mobility list" and change jobs fairly easily, if you want to. sounds like you've only got a week or so to go, you ought to stick it out and then transfer.

mr. pearson: i posted this publicly because it might jog someone else's memory. i joined the military in 1976. when i got on the plane to go to basic training (1st time i ever was in an airport), some krishna follower gave me a bhagavad-gita (or however it's spelled, i could care less). the book was full of trippy, colorful art and it's always struck me as manipulative because

a thought about paddling: when i was a kid in school, i got paddled fairly frequently. most of the time, it wasn't much more than an inconveinance and an embarrassment. did it modify my behavior? only a little, it did nothing good for my attitude. the principle of my middle school was the only one i remember ever really hurting me with the paddle, he was a past master of the swat. and here i
