Quotestarbright: YOGA???? Yup yoga... sad eh.... you would be surprised at the hidden agenda some of these Schools of Yoga have and the motives of the particular spiritual guru who started a particular School of Yoga. Yoga sounds harmless enough and in many instances the practice is mostly harmless enough... Just watch what particular group you join up with to do it... Quotestarbright:

Quotekath: If she is going to spend a year there and leave her current life, that's nothing to do with a relationship naturally breaking up, it does sound more like excessive devotion to a particular spiritual practice/teacher. Possibly inadvertently, you have hit the nail square on the head here. Usually when someone withdrawls from their life situation so suddenly and completely after j

There was a time you could just go and do yoga and or mediation without affiliation to any specific living guru or group. The yoga classes were just the asana excercises and mediation was for relaxing the mind run by individuals who had no interest in 'power' play over other people. But the more I read here and in other places, I can see that things have gradually changed over the years

Quotejeannelucille: I feel so much healthier these days, having let go of many of the New Age beliefs and practices I used to cling to so desperately. I think now that much of it was wishful thinking that rarely, if ever, bore fruit. Owhhh boy!!!! I can totally relate to that and that's my experience too. Not only do I now think it was all wishful thinking, but I also used to think I was e

It happens like that sometimes eh kath? I've been caught out thinking someone needs a supporting hand after they tell you their problems and ask you what you think. Then after a while you realise they play quite a significant role in the fiasco themselves to keep the drama in their life 'alive'. Thus the type of answers you give them weren't really the ones that they were

I reckon yoga and meditation can help relax and thus aid one to take it easy and enjoy life more. But what I do if I'm ever looking for any new place to go to, I always make sure that there isn't a doctrine they are following under a specific 'guru' person. But you don't always know by the way it's advertised. It's amazing how many organisations offer f

I think that's the really hard thing to accept sometimes when trying to help another person. You see the abuse in the relationship, but as yet they either do or obviously haven't accepted it. And even if you could think of the greatest and most persuasive reason ever for them to change or to see what is happening, and you told it to them, that still wouldn't do it. Because it&#

Quoteconsegrityscam: From what I understand, most people get involved with the psychic thing because they are lonely and depressed, falling prey to hearing a friendly voice. For someone that is very depressed, what happens after that two weeks is up? I'd look more into the causes of your son's unhappiness instead of looking for something to blame it on. As with most things di

After I wrote this post I realise it's a pretty old thread now, but I thought, what the heck, I'll still post up my two bob's worth. Some do consider them to be a cult but basically, the Seventh Day Adventists are okay, at least here in Australia. Pretty low key really and yes, they did promote and still do promote healthy eating and lifestyle. We also have Seventh Day Adventi
