Hi Joe, The Assembly sexual instructions seemed to have a deep and lasting effect on you. First it was Aunt Bea, in Andy of Mayberry, and now baseball that you had to imagine in order to achieve proper, (how shall we say it?) fulfillment. It is very humorous when we think about how ridiculous the whole scenario was. It would be good to get your imput at the new site Joe.

Hi All, I was old enough to remember the whole sordid Manson affair and agree with Brent re. her being let out of prison. There are many excuses that could be given re. murderers such as socio-economic deprivation, abusive parents, drug abuse, etc. These above problems should be addressed by society, but not by excusing the behavior. Mind control power in cults is very real and it is

Hi All, Ah yes, Aunt Bee always caused me problems as well. No, it's not what you're thinking; it was her high shrill voice! Merry Christmas to you as well Joe and to all our friends here. God Bless, Mark

Hi Dave and All, GG is like the Wizard in the Wizard of OZ when Toto pulls back the curtain! He exudes a great power, but it's all smoke and mirrors. I'm happy that Toto pulled back the curtain for me. I don't think that the Wizard pooped his pants in the movie when his deception was uncovered, but maybe that part was cut to make the movie "G" rated? (please share s

Hi Terry, Brent, and Others. Boy, there is some great advice re. a very difficult subject here. I agree that we are all different and as such will have a different explanation for our entrance into the groups' we were involved with. I was looking for a group that matched my great enthusiasm re. serving God; the Leader of the group used my zeal to serve His own self serving goals. Who w

Hi Everyone, There is one common characteristic I have discovered re. those who have lived in Bros. houses' and that is the comedic ability to deliver great puns! I don't know if it is gallows humor, the ability to laugh at one's self, or what. You guys have me in stitches! The greatest Assembly punster that I remember was Jerry Trumble; he was an absolute genius. He would

Joe, did you get the e-mail that I sent to you with Rand's address? Send me an e-mail either way so I know if my mail is being lost in outer cyber space darkness. Dave, good article at the new web site re. George the false prophet. GG did have some interesting views on end times, but when he started in with the predictions he did indeed step over the line. Do you know how Curt Miles i

Hi Dave, You put it very well! You show the confusion in the teaching and how it can lead to anti-depressants in one's life. I heard after leaving that many in Fullerton were being encouraged to take "beta-blockers" due to being diagnosed by Betty as depressed; is this true? The geftakysassembly.com website was having a few problems with the bulletin board, but all seems to

Hi Brent and Others. I get it now; but that would make you a Member as well. I just had a great conversation with Eric on the phone. It was so good to be able to hear his voice and share in his joy in knowing there is life after the Assembly. Pray for healing for him as he has a blood disease (I hope it is alright to mention this Eric). I tried to access the bulletin board over

Hi All, I have been enjoying the new site and trust everyone has been over to take a look. Brent, you and your co-workers have done a great job! I want to know how it is that I am no longer a "Junior Member", but am now designated as a "Member" without the "Junior"? God Bless, Mark

Terry, Yes, you express my feelings exactly re. the benefit of discussing GG's mystical message. "Posioning the well" is exactly the danger! Once people have heard and "tried" GG's false mysticism/holiness pursuit and then failed they are likely to think God has failed them and thus the whole thing is false. I look forward to your contribution on the topic as

HI ALL, Greg, you have a very clear manner in describing the irony of Assembly rules re. leaving. I know you are feeling the sting of the Valley rejection now. It is great to know that Christ promised to never leave us or forsake us. One brother from the beach told me he was told the blood of Christ would no longer cover him if he left, as he did not receive the blessing of the leadership.

Joe, I'm glad you are not heading out to lurkerville as I have truly learned a lot from your post's. As we share it brings back things that I had forgotten and since our past is interwoven it strikes a chord. Also discussing the actual events brings the warning messages of scripture re. the Assembly into clear relief for all to view ( also for the truly vast sea of lurking friends)

Hi Joe, Terry, Brent, and Others: Joe, please stay and make your contribution. I don't know if you have checked out the new website under testimonials, but several of your posts have made it onto the site. I shared the business about Al as an encouragement to you and others that even the abuser can change and make his way out of the Assembly. (of course you may have been joking about jo

Hi Joe, I must correct you on the name of the open air preacher, as I or a relative of mine, do not wish to be implicated in the before mentioned crime re. public speaking; my last name is Campbell, his was Anderson. Also Joe, I would like to let you know that I am in regular contact with Al. I'm sure he would be very apologetic for the past misery he put you through. I got to see

Hi All, David, I also remember Steve Iron's article re. Dan Smith, but couldn't find the copy here. If we could get in touch with Steve we probably would have a wealth of particulars re. the situation. I remember hearing Bahkt Singh on his visit's to Fullerton. On his last couple of visits he always preached the same message from Revelation on the Church of Laodicea. I fo

Hi Greg, Yes, I know where Rand is and I have his address if you are interested in writing him. At my last contact with him he did not have a computer. He is living in Texas now and is going to a Evangelical church there. I talked to him about why he left and he felt the Assembly had abandoned their earlier high prinicples and that he couldn't fellowship there any longer. He was so

Hi Terry and Others, Does my subject title remind you of anything? Terry, if your study of "Mystics" helped you find a individual life with God I can't complain about it. Maybe certain personality types wouldn't relate to mystical teaching like mine did, which was damaging to my soul. I think there are "Mystics" like Tozer and then there are "Mystics"

Hi All, In light of outreach I do remember a humorous story from a Sunday afternoon in a park in Fullerton. I went out with another Brother and we tried to strike up a conversation with individuals who were in the park and noticed Bob Anderson (presently Assembly lawyer in Fullerton) standing at the end of a long series of tables where a family reunion was having a picnic. Bob was open air p

Hi Terry, Joe, Others & the lurking masses-- Just before leaving the Assembly I had a remarkable situation that I talked about to Enroth and is in his 2nd book, "Recovering from Churhces That Abuse." I relate the story of how an old man poured out his heart to me at a lunch counter and how was keeping me from working on my chapter summary. He had a very sad story and God o

Hello Eric! It was so good to see your post. I also was very angry at the "brothers" when I first left, but consider: They're still there and you are out! The joke is on them; cruel joke that it is. Of course our greatest concern is for those trapped under the burden of the Assembly system. I think the Leaders must know that they are wrong and yet their ego's are so i

Hi David, Your request for prayer was not important to the Assembly because it had nothing to do with the self interest of the group. I remember a Sister being counselled to not visit her Mother too much, though she was dying of cancer. The sister was concerned because her Mother didn't know the Lord and she hoped to minister the gospel via her visits to see her Mother. Incredibl

Hi Brent, Joe, David, and the Great Cloud, Brent, I will be looking for my ancient manuscript via snail mail, thanks. David, I missed responding to a post that you made earlier re. our own culpability in being duped into staying in the Assembly. Hi David, Brent, and Others, Yes David, I know you are correct that most members are not ready to consider the truth about their situation. When I first left I poured my heart and soul into a letter that I sent to as many members as I could, but thought nothing came of it. Now I learn from Brent that he read it years later and it was helpful to him when he first left. I didn't even ha

Hi Everyone, Assembly False Holiness teaching drives a wedge between God and the believer by making the relationship conditioned on actions a human is not capable of performing. Merit relationship to God vs. gift based relationship creates a harmful dynamic in the soul. Either an Assembly member must fake their spirituality or admit they are failing; the first will garner reward from the Ass

Hi Joe, David, and others, Very good examples from the Bible re. Assembly behavior Joe and very funny story re. brothers "living together", David. Hi Joe and others, Yes, it is so easy to see now that we are out from under the spell of George's barrage of out of context scripture. It would do good to have an article on Assembly/cult erroneous use of the Bible. Maybe on the new website? Assembly use of the word "faith" vs. biblical usage: The Bible has one understanding of the word faith in regard to salvation and t
