The real question Simplify is, do they disappear people? Do people who cause them real trouble disappear like within so many other governments and government like entities around the world? Is there proof that China, the US, Russia, Opus Dei and countless smaller countries and organizations "disappear" people who are deemed a danger? Of course there is very little hard evidence of such

Hi Tsukimoto. I actually knew it after the first several months of a twenty year stay: "Come to a meeting with me. We're a group that adulates a Japanese billionaire whom none of us has ever met. We all consider him our mentor in life and an unerringly benevolent father figure. We quote his writings incessantly. We praise him incessantly. We liken him to Gandhi and Martin Luther Kin

In 1979 I was talking to a top young woman.s division leader who was sure that thanks to the SGI there would be no more nukes within ten years. I tried to educate her about geopolitical realities, the SALT agreement, bubble economies and the role of militarism, and the fundamental nature of man's greed, anger, and stupidity and all she had to say was, "you will see. Thanks to SGI and S

Here is an interesting response I got from a former "connected" Santa Monica friend regarding your question: "i have many. i just need to recall them. one thing that popped out as a member some years ago is that the gakkai would classify their members as A, B , or C members. A being very good. B being average and C being weak members. "he/she has lots of potential". p

QuoteSGByeBoth of my parents know that I left the organization, quit practicing, and ceased having any religious beliefs. Yet, I can’t shake the feeling that in the back of their minds they are convinced that I will return to the SGI someday. I’ve heard many SGI leaders say that people who have left the organization will always come back because “a seed has been planted in them.” How arrogant

QuoteHitchI forgot to add - QuoteredroseI never ever saw Ikeda as a great leader or writer. One of my first experiences with the obsession with Ikeda's lame writing was back in the early 80's when they were pushing REALLY HARD for the ymd to memorize the poem "To My Young American Friends." I never did, simply because I couldn't stand the thing. I never understood

Animality. When times were tough, with few members attending the YMD meetings, the leaders were often congenial, like the comportment of alpha males in a small pack of dogs in which every member of the pack was necessary in order to successfully hunt and who didn't have to worry about getting their share of the kill. But when many people were participating, the alpha male leaders became ins

QuoteShavoy Tons of chanting and tons of activities create a situation where you don't have to face the painful nitty-gritties. High "life-conditions", too. Therefore, that's why members' lives don't always have a lot to show for "actual proof" with what would be considered on-going Karma--karma that never seems to go away. That's the co-main reaso

Hi Hitch. Being that the Lotus Sutra "is an important literary, historical, moral and ethical document." and the Human Revolution "is simplisticaly transparent, amateurish, and just plain stupid.", why do you think SGI members assiduously study and covet the Human Revolution at the expense of the Lotus Sutra? hi Hitch. I would just like to point out to you that the SGI's practice is only superficially similar to the actual practice of Nichiren Lotus Sutra Buddhism. Have you read the Lotus Sutra? Most SGI members have not even read the entire Lotus Sutra but they have read all twenty or so volumes of the Human Revolution, New Human Revolution, and New New Human Revolution. Nichijew

If there is one thing about the Soka Gakkai that irked me more than the stupid planning meetings, it was their obsession with claimed "accurate" statistics but which were actually manipulated in a fast and loose manner and their harping on "victory" and "winning". I may have posted this before, if so, please excuse me. It is nearly word for word from an SGI Headqua
