Quotegc4062Socrates, to pick up on something you mentioned in another thread... yes, for some reason, the MTV generation has become intellectually lazy. But I'm part of the original MTV generation. I remember the summer when MTV started and watching it religiously. I think it's far more than just MTV. Generation X is the first generation whose parents were introduced to est. If I

QuotesocratesIf you go into your LGAT with the hidden attitude that THEY will somehow, magically compensate for YOUR character flaws, your spiritual squalor, your inertia, your lack of curiosity, your need to be entertained, that's where they got you. They got you because they feed on your weakness. Weakness??? Please, we need to stop talking about people being trapped by their weaknesses

I don't think I stated my original post well. I don't want to analyze the "conversations" as landmark wants us to think about them, but rather as how landmark uses them to control people. My interest is not in describing any behavior I have now as a cause of being involved with landmark. I realize that lec is anally organized. Even though I know the room setup has more t

I was wondering if any ex-FLs or ex-staffers (or anyone who's overcome these) could help with dispelling the Should/Have-To "conversation" in the forum and the Need/Want "conversation" in the IFLP. Those two notions definitely created stumbling blocks for me. Some of the hardest behavior to get rid of was caused by those two "conservations." (I'm sure t

QuotesterlinghusbandAlexis was guessing what your aunt's life might be like when she said---- "You stated your aunt met all her friends there. What happened to the friends she had before she attended is the question I would ask her. Most likely she had friends from before, but they didn't agree with views she adopted since attending Sterling making them on non-speaking terms. It

Sorry you had the misfortune of attending their forum. Just remember everything they say is complete crap. I just feel sorry for the ones who think there is something to actually learn. QuoteclickingaroundI have a request for members of this board. Is there any group that directly confronts Landmark and its activities? If not I think there is a need for such an organization. Service in this

Before you get all wiggy and think I'm trying to get you to become Catholic, keep in mind I only go to church once or twice a year. My husband is also an atheist and I DONOT try to convert him. Having stated that, getting to know the religion I was raised with was/is an important part of my recovery process from landmark and primerica. And I could do that without stepping into a church

QuoteAcid ReindeerQuoteAlexis I also was raised Catholic. And I can say that I have learned that any person can take any doctrine or belief and construe it to feed their own egos. The Catholic Church is not inherently a cult. Neither is Judaism or Muslim or any other religion that teaches people to live good, upstanding, moral lives. But there are sects that pervert their teachings and in esse

Well, I have never attended Sterling. The people I knew in landmarkland looked down on Sterling because they thought he was stealing their material. But being familiar with LGATs, I can shed a light on a few things. Dissolving barriers really means changing your perspectives. What you need to ask yourself is do you really want/need to change your entire perspective on how you see yourself

Ooooohh, so we are unwitting pawns for your amusement, eh Wary? *yawn* I’ve seen that tactic used before, not only by landmarkians, but from others whom want to humiliated by portraying dissagreements as facetious. *yawn*

    Templar, Your post is making me laugh to the point of tears. I never thought you were, nor do I think anyone in that list is the same person. It's just another ploy to try to make us question our judgment. As for the 9/11 comment brought up by Wary: When I was involved with landmark, they opened at noon since most of their activities occurred

Actually , Socrates, I own you an apology. For some reason I thought the post with Cleckly was from someone else. Guess I should have stopped for breakfast before writing my reply!!! I misinterpreted your entire post and in fact, agree. Please excuse the, "if you were really understanding what Cleckly had written" statement as I was not understanding what you had written. Ag

Wary, Saying you are not insulted, then saying that I'm attacking you or naming-calling really means you are insulted and are "choosing" to ignore what you perceive as an insult. So I'll analyze your post for everyone to expose the landmarkian/Erhardian behavior: >> I wasn't insulted at all by what you said. You can attack me or call me names all

landmark won't allow anyone except whom they approve to research them. So please, quit covering for them. And if warytraveller2, elena, cosmophilosopher or templar are all the same person, then you, Wary, have multiple personalities and aren't all there to begin with. :D Probably induced by your est "training." It's more than obvious all your posts are meant to

The fact you were insulted by "unwitting pawns" shows you have a button for being "a victim." I won't go into the "victim" spiel taught by the forum/est, but they have absolute disdain for the very word. My use of the phrase was not an insult. It's a fact. >> It seems that any form of disagreement on this forum is met with anger, contem

Wow! I will have to watch it again to achieve a better understanding, but I really enjoyed it. I love twisted movies that aren't bloody. Plus all my favorite '80's alternative music! I was a big Tears For Fears fan when I was younger and the movie's use of their music was so haunting. Must admit I had a bit of sinister delight that Patrick Swayze's cha

We live in a common reality. If everyone believes that each other's reality was just that person's opinions or imagination, then our society starts to disintegrate. I have read others' replies to posts where the answers were very much like what you wrote to me - that it was true for me. You don't even realize that you just trivialized my experience to just "my story.&

Looking for the good from bad events is a good quality to have, but it must be used judiciously. The largest concern I have with people trying to find the good from their cult/cult-like experiences is even though they realize the cult was wrong it is difficult for them to fully accept they made a mistake by participating in it. Thus, they search for something "good" from the whole exp

Warytraveller2, MLMS is multi-level marketing scam, and yes primerica is a subsidiary of Citicorp. No one said the MLMSs didn't make money for the corporations that owned them. :) Ok, a small select few are successful. There are the highly annoying who talk at their conventions and get paid millions of dollars a year, according to them. I also knew people who made all their money th

Just wanted to say hellos. Not sure if people normally give their cult background, but I was involved with landmark in late '92 - to early '93 and primerica in '98. I was only 19 years old when my mind was poisoned by landmark. My college roommate was involved with landmark and within 3 months of living with her, I had attended the forum. Then I was enrolled in the leader

>> It almost sounds as though they are copying from some manual. << When I was in landmark's leadership program, they had a phone script for getting people to join. Primerica had huge binders of "recruiting" scripts. (Ackk! a LGAT and a MLMS ---- what was my problem  ) So yes they do have manuals or scripts or "think this only&quo

Having attended the advanced course and their leadership program, I would like to add what their understanding of "No" is. If you say anything other than "No" to them, they think it really means "Yes". I kid you not. Reminds you of a rapist? Maybe, just Maybe. "No, thanks" is not wise to say either. The "thanks" implies to them that
