As the official emcee at many a district meetings, I had the dubious distinction of explaining to any newbies in attendance what the supposed meaning of NMRK was. Well I think it means this. No it actually means that. All joking aside it can mean whatever they want it to mean to suit their own agenda.Hitch's comment about being tattooed into your brain is an understatement. A total farce.

I would 100% agree with shavoy's comments. The biggest problem I have with religion today is the fanatacism and were right, your wrong mentality. Back in my glory days in sgi ( I use that term loosely) when we would have these big shakabuku campaigns we bound and determined to tell the whole world the error of their ways. Total arrogance and ignorance I might add. I simply can no longer deal

I attended a cullture festival in japan in 82-83 time frame. I forget the exact year. Watching that video brought back some old memories or sure. The one I attended was in an outdoor stadium, I don't remember the name right off hand. I can't remember the type of costume I was wearing, but we were told when we went out to look up where the dear leader was sitting along side nikken, the

They toned down some of the rhetoric and non stop activity schedule after the split with the priesthood probably due to people leaving in droves. I was looking at the sgi-usa website and mens division guidelines. Hold weekly chanting sessions, grab the dear leaders heart and spirit. They want mens division studying "my dear freinds in america" from 1990. (Anyone remember that one. I su

Whenever I would listen to people who were going through some kind of difficult situation tell how they were chanting so many hours daily I must admit what went through my mind is this person must be off they're rocker. I think the most I ever chanted in one sitting was maybe 2 hours and that was brutal to do that. The sad part is if your issue wasn't getting any better, well chant 3 ho

Not to mention couples within the sgi org who had miserable relationships and wound up divorced. I know several of these people. Relationships succeed or fail all the time regardless of ones religion. Attributing everything ggod or bad that happens in ones life to NMRK is pure bs. I played this game steady for 20+ years. Haven't practiced now for at least 5 years, and I can say things are no

Another boring gakkai song. Add to the list of other boring gakkai songs. Maybe they could start singing it at the end of meetings.

I remember well some of "strict" guidance sessions of some of these leaders. Boy were those always a blast. I had a top level one time scolding all us YMD in a group type setting. Aparently we weren't being strict enough with ourselves (being good littlte boys I guess) and told us that anyone who didn't want to be there and do this kosen rufu thing to get the F out. Those wer

Does that ever hit home with me. That never set well with me how we could be out there busting our you know whats, all these activities, unpaid labor the whole f***ing nine yards and for what. So these arrogant leaders could pat each other on the back and get a pay raise also while everyone else busted their butts for free. Anything for kosen rufu even if it is all a bunch nonsense. Since when do

I actually have a cassette tape entitled NSA Songs 1975-1985. Executive producer was George M. Williams. Contains such smash hits as the gakkai spirit, we love america (anyone remember the we love america rally in Washington DC in 1982. I was there. Speaking of a fiasco.) As a YMD back then I well remember at the end of meetings and other activities I was asked to lead everyone in singing f

I spent 20 years or so waiting for the day I was going to be totally enlightned. Never happened. Of course is was my fault. They always told me what a miserable sob I would be if I left. Brainwashing is a very powerful thing. They would always say more daimoku, more shakabuku, more activities yada yada yada. Hell we were already doing activities in some cases 3 to 5 nights a week and sometimes 6.

Hello everyone. I joined soka gakkai.NSA in 1977. I have read all 443 pages of this forum over the last few months. Boy does so much of this stuff hit home for me. I always felt over the years that there was something wrong. Could never quite put my finger on it. Of course it was always my fault according to the organization. Stayed away an honest 10 years or so and actually tried to reconnect wi
