QuoteThe Anticult Alan Simmons is still currently posting in that Yahoo group with the Yahoo username: kenzoku2 Now to find out if "Alan Simmons" is a real person, and if he actually did enter her home. Also, there appear to be a number of people named Alan Simmons. By the way, it appears her home was sealed for a long time by the authorities, and she was not discovered u

I don't know why the forum hasn't notified me of new posts this past week! Been super busy with work (which is great in these troubled economic times WITHOUT chanting :) I've been missing tons of great responses. QuoteYzak And like you mentioned Awaken7, when people come to you saying that their philosophy is the ultimate experience you will have, it is because something not

Happy 4th everyone! Hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful day with friends and families, even those outside the States! On a day like this, I feel really appreciative of being alive. And I feel that without chanting or attending SGI meetings! :) Like quiet one, I enjoy the spiritual aspect of the Nichiren Buddhism and enjoy chanting. I can really relate to her about not wanting to cut

Awaken, I'm really happy for you that you discovered this forum and decided for yourself what's right for you! All that talk SGI leaders say about you can be a "Christian and a Buddhist" is pure B.S.! Sorry to be graphic, but I've seen them saying that to new members, and we regular members all knew it was with a wink-wink-nodd-nodd attitude, with the understanding th

tsukimoto, Wow, I can't believe the people treated you that way at that meeting. Even though I was outspoken, I never got the cold-shoulder or hostile treatment like that. How sad! Nah, I don’t mind telling you about how I got involved with SGI. The first time I heard about Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo was through a guy I met at the gym in Hollywood who learned that I was in LA to pursue act

Quotetsukimoto It shouldn't matter if Mav is conservative, I'm liberal, and someone else is an anarchist. We should still be able to chant together and study Buddhist teachings. If we want to discuss politics or sociology, there are other places to do that. Precisely. That's the way it should be, but in practice I think it's extremely hard. Group think, the herd menta

I think Anticult's journal is a good idea. I was at a point in my life a year or so before I quit SGI where I was trying to win back an ex-girlfriend, and all I got from leaders' guidance was to let her go or chant to fight harder for kosen-rufu. Nobody gave me practical ideas to go out and just do what I used to do best before her and that was to just go out and date tons of women,

So glad to discover this forum! I was an SGI-USA member for 18 years in LA, and a district leader who quit about 9 months ago. At first, I kept waiting for the "other shoe to drop," like waiting for a disaster to befall me as I had heard would happen to members who went taitan. Well, I'm happy to say that my life has its ups and downs as always, but I'm doing quite alright
