It's all sounding all to familiar...I've been reading 'My Life in Orange' and that's the jist of what the author says all the way through the book.

Many thanks for your post. The links made interesting reading. QuoteS_Byers666At that time everything was really OK as long as both individuals were into it. Never mind the age, never mind whatever, as long as the people themselves were OK with it. I think a lot of people had judgments but had to drop them, because of that kind of collective understanding. This chilled me to the bone th

QuoteRegenerateStarry, What a tragic tale - I've been absorbing the significance of it all, from the perspective of you, the abandoned daughter, the rejected mother and family in general, and, myself, as the ex-sannyasin. Regenerate, What a kind and compassionate soul you are...taking so much time and care to understand the pain and suffering of others. You have so obviously been

Yes, the best is yet to come...wise words indeed. Welcome, and many congratulations (although that word doesn't say enough) for getting away.

Thanks so much for replying to this too. I remember being really struck, when I first started trying to find more information about this group and their doings, there seemed to be so little out there. And so much of it was written by people that obviously still really believed in it all. I was really confused, I almost started doubting my own perceptions and conclusions. It's so reassuri

QuoteRegenerateStarry, I was very sorry to hear on another thread about the situation with your Rajneeshi father. Thanks for that, I really appreciate what you said. Believe it or not, that's the first time that anyone has ever said that to me. If I try and describe my dad and his mindset - the way he lives and some of the things he's done, leaving out the most sickening - to

It's me :D Yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Very strange thing is that on a long train journey (5 hours) I met and got chatting to a really friendly girl, and could see that she was being taken in big style, by one of those yoga/meditation type organizations. I can't remember the name, I'll have to look it up...but as soon as she started talking about them and the way

Oh yeah, except my dad was (still is) in with the Rajneesh lot. Swap the names of the 'organizations' but the methods they use are the same and the effect on people, friends and family is the same. Welcome. Hope you can start to find some answers here.

I would be very interested in hearing about your experiences as well. I have a very close family member that was (still is) a sannyasin.

I've learnt so much from The Artist's Way, it marked a real turning point in my life. I've come so far since I first started dabbling with it and I know I've still got further to go with it. What is it that you'd like to do? Perhaps you can find a job where people will value you for who you are now, and not the person who you think you should be at this age (ie compar

Just thought...if you enjoy writing, you might like Julia Cameron's books. The classic is The Artist's Way. It's an amazing book, a real stepping stone on the way to self discovery and it's packed with ideas for self nurturing (I'd say that's its basic premise). She has loads of fun stuff you can do too that will help you connect with who you are. The book is

Glad to hear you're feeling better today. Of course you find it hard to trust people...but that will come back with time, slowly, without you even noticing it. And you'll find that you become a very good judge of character, you'll know straight off if you can trust someone, if that person is a good and wholesome person. Be patient with yourself. Have you tried keeping a journ

It takes a huge amount of courage to do what you've done, and to get as far as you have done. Be kind to yourself, be gentle with yourself, look after yourself...don't expect too much from yourself and push yourself too hard. You've already come a long way. When the fear strikes know that it will pass...it's a feeling, just a feeling, and not everything. Ride out the st

Yes, it was the same Tim, and I really must read his book. He sounds like an interesting chap, and I felt that what he was saying in the 'Reunion' was completely overlooked/dismissed by the others. I'm finding it quite hard to get to grips with the Rajneesh thing. There seem to be so few people who are speaking out about this (apart from here, and I'm so glad I've fou

Hi there This made very interesting listening. I think you can still hear it (until Sunday) on the 'Listen Again' facility on BBC Radio 4: and scroll down to the letter 'R'. It seems that (with the exception of Tim) the other people seemed to be still pretty caught up in the whole Rajneesh mindset (and culty mindet). I felt quite annoyed at the interviewer for se

Hi Sarah, Thanks for getting back to me. I'm not sure where to start from, it all seems so garbled and removed from the 'real world'. Perhaps I could PM you with some more details?

Well, I know that when my dad joined Rajneesh he totally cut off all ties with his friends and family. They gave him a new name as well. His mum didn't see him again after that...they didn't have any contact for the last 30 or so years of her life. I tracked my dad down about 14 years ago (it took me 6 years to find him) and he was really surprised when eventually I did find him

Hi there I'm looking to share experiences with other children of rajneeshites. Also with ex-rajneeshites if you're interested, to try and understand (and make sense) of the situation I was in with one of my parents. Thank you
