I'm curious. What motivated you to read all his books and watch numerous CDs? I can't say much about Oprah, but I've seen, read and listened to enough of Tolle and others that have been around him that he does "walk the walk." Should he be a full-time hermit? I'm really not sure what people expect him to do or not do in terms of writing and/or public appearances.

QuotecspI've been involved in spiritual pursuits for decades (both eastern and western) and have read all of Mr. Tolle's books and watched many hours of his videos looking for any sign of insincerity or fraud. I've found none whatsoever. Believe me I've been witness to many, many frauds over the years, but Mr. Tolle is not one of them. I'm also a researcher in the field o

Great post, DTE. Ego-Death is completely ridiculous in the modern world. If you are a monk in a cave, or a rich New Age Guru who likes to play-act...then fine. But the rest of us mortals would like to keep our wonderful Minds which are a miracle of Evolution. The human mind is a fantastic thing, its not the enemy. Its possible Tolle's mental illness which was driving him to suicide,

I did, however, read this account on this thread, which you might find interesting: It may be possible, too, that people here, when they use the word "ego", have different definitions of that word in mind. It is very popul

There are also threads here about Abraham-Hicks. The Hicks are just old-fashioned carnival barkers, out to make money money money. Its interesting that Oprah has said the public isn'

You know, on my way out of the new agey cult-type stuff, Eckhart Tolle was THE thing that gave me the biggest push...OUT the door. Yes, ironic, eh? I had tried to read The Power of Now quite a while ago, and not only could I not get into it, but I actually felt very negative about it. I stopped reading it. Then I heard about Oprah's big endorsement of "A New Earth". The book

Quotehelpme2times Hi chick, I don't know if there's any direct connection between Byron Katie's approach and the Sedona Method. But there does seem to be an indirect connection, which you've pointed out... that the application of each method might result in disassociation. I actually read a Sedona "book" a while back, but to be honest I don't recall one da

Oprah has promoted "A Course In Miracles" for a long time, and I have seen posts here about ACIM. Here's a search. Oprah will probably be doing radio LGAT courses on The Secret soon, if not already. And maybe Scientology next week too. I don't really see any evidence that Oprah believes any of these things are anything other than desirable and profitable.

QuoteshimonI was wondering if you could share more about what the ACIM teachers said about Hawkins. Andrew Paterson wrote to me in December of 2006 a rather prophetic statement which at the time I asked if I could quote here. QuoteThe bottom line is that Hawkins' weakness is his method of determining absolute certainty. By linking his philosophical worldview to AK he lays himself open to testing and contradiction. This works for a short time until those tests are done. Most other cult l

This is rather amusing. Hawkins has been criticized by fellow Dr. Wayne Dyer-endorsed Hay House author Gary Renard in his book Your Immortal Reality: How to Break the Cycle of Birth and Death. Renard purports to have had conversations with two "ascended masters" who come from the future named Arten and Pursah...(Yes, Hay House will publish anything, provided it is just crazy enough.)

There are a lot of dangerous products in the market right now and one very deceptive writer is Doreen Virtue whose Ph.D. is from a degree mill in California. Virtue's claim to fame is that she is teaching the world how to work with the angelic realm. Her trademark product is called Angel Therapy which is about working with one's angels to manifest what they want. Wow ... in the Holy Bib

After some consideration, I've decided to share some things about Doreen Virtue that I experienced, for the most part, directly. Here goes... I became a Certified Spiritual Counselor (aka "CSC") upon completing just three weekends of training with Doreen Virtue in the late 1990's. To say that the training was superficial is an understatement. Interestingly, after

The set-up would be I imagine similar to those study groups based on A Course in Miracles. But the teacher had been trained to teach it or something I think, it was not a dicussion group, but a taught course of exercises and meditations.
