anonday, In my humble opinion: In addition to all of the above, these people are extremely sadistic. I can't even begin to tell you the level this reached in their interactions with me. If someone isn't falling for the basic, programs, or in other words, is a "hard case," they will obtain personal information from the "friends" who recruited you, (and beyon

To All ~ I think what corboy had in mind, (correct me if I'm wrong), was that anybody could contribute to this thread. As a work of fiction, (parody), and any resemblance to real people, living or dead being purely coincidental, it is a pretty safe format. The idea comes from this notorious book, which was passed around to 24 different authors:

...and another: "Sleep fast!" This is said to the production team, as they are sent home for the night. This is usually LATE at night, and they will have to return early in the morning. I wondered at the time if this was a deliberate attempt to sabotage sleep, because being told to do something "fast" does generally not promote relaxation.

Billie walked quickly to her car. She didn't want Samantha to engage her in conversation.  She was just too exhausted to dodge Samantha's  mental snares at the moment. She knew that Samantha was looking for volunteers for the next seminar, and, if one word passed between them, she would find herself inexplicably roped into the production team.  She needed a break. She and Kiley had s

anonday, I understand a small delay, but we're talking minutes, not seconds, here. Are you trying to tell me that there's no manipulation intended when you look down and to the side, even turn away, maybe, and they step around you and stoop over to stay in front of your face? It felt to me like an attempt to force submission, though your experiences with this could have been diffe

Emily, I read your article, and personally I think it's great! There was one thing I saw that was not true of my LGAT, and you might want to recheck this on the one that you did: it is my understanding that most LGATs are NOT run by mental health professionals of any type. If this is also true of the one you attended, that woman screaming in your face may have had no more training tha

One more piece of LGAT jargon: "Smart Rat" This was a term used by L.E., but I never had it defined to me.  I believe that this is someone who sees a couple of steps ahead of a conversation,  and so does not allow themself to be "trapped" into a certain path of logic, or into agreeing to something. A minor example, and this is a bad example, because they try to &quo

Interesting study in that link, corboy. There is also the way that many of us have more difficulty performing physical tasks when we know that someone is looking over our shoulder or "breathing down our necks." I don't know if, or how, that ties in, but there is something about being stared at too much that has a negative effect on most people.

This part about our nervous systems is very disturbing. If I am reading this right, what is being talked about here are parts of our brains which we can't easily access to "undo" what's been done to us at will.  In other words, as the effects are physical,  we can't just "think our way out of it." From an ethical standpoint, even without the use of a substa

I've been reading the threads about room set-up and the manipulation of language in LGATS, and how all of this affects the nervous system. Here's another of their "tricks." I experienced "the staredown" on two occasions at L.E., so it's maybe used more sparingly than their other tools, but I think that it is worth mentioning. I was recruited at a home in

Thanks, corboy! I love this list of words! I see words here that I've been looking for my entire life, but could never find within the English language. I also like the concept of emotional granularity, and I think you're right. If someone were to start describing a negative emotion at L.E., someone would often rush in and try to distract them from it. It is counterproducti

Samantha, the Center Manager had been away for a training. When she entered the sacred shrine, she was horrified to see a pile of tennis rackets piled up by the door. The sight made her nearly apoplectic.  Who was responsible for this mess ?!?!?  People must be orderly when dropping their rackets!  She went into the back office and found a volunteer sap to pick them up, and rearrange them

I would add that some people at the fairs are legit. There are many who honestly have talent. I always enjoyed them, in the past, and i believe that many of these gems still attend. It's just a matter of discernment, discernment, discernment. I would go with my gut. If something feels fishy, it is! Above all, if anyone tries to recruit you, RUN !!! This is something I have noticed over the past few years: The metaphysical fairs I attended in the past were a nice, eclectic mix of spiritual practices.  They still have a mix, but now there are many Landmark, (and probably other LGAT), people showing up there and operating booths, as readers and healers. I would not be surprised to see them try to recruit their clients.  Some will be easy to

anonday, I can't really say anything about the Catholic church, as I have had little exposure. What I do know is that corporal punishment has been used in schools, in various periods, and that this has occurred in both religious and secular schools. Corporal punishment has also been widely used by parents, and i always assumed that any such thing done in any school was with the cons

anonday, Not just the consequences vs the intent, but the overreach, and the complete lack of respect for boundaries.  Not only does Landmark, (deliberately), fail to respect boundaries as an organization, but they seem to train this into the people who go higher up in their programs. I sincerely believe that Landmark trains people to assume authority that they don't actually have, (t

They definitely try to transform your thinking. They call it "empowerment," but I have never seen a more extreme example of "sheeple" in my life.

The other part if this is informed consent. Someone else posted some time ago, (in fact there have been several posts like this), about hypnotic induction in an LGAT, and how the leader was describing what is happening in the mind during hypnosis AS he is doing this, but not informing participants that he was doing it. I had some kind of soundtrack used on me, again without any kind of cons

anonday, I don't know how much it matters whether or not they/Warner believe that they are making you a "better" person. They sell their courses as programs that will make you more effective in your own life, and something that will help you to fulfill your own goals. What they do, once you are in, is to try to hijack your time and money toward THEIR agenda, and try to make

crback22 - I would be - sort of. The problem I see is that they are DIFFERENT companies, and I don't think that we can file such a thing against an entire class of businesses, but just one at a time. The other problem I have is that some of us have had crimes committed against us. In my case, I would personally rather see a criminal prosecution. I don't know if a lawsuit would co

I don't know why Paul would bother offering up Landmark. It sounds like pretty much the same thing, and I would expect them to handle it the same way. They pretty much say on their consent form that YOU are responsible for anything they do to you. People sign it, not knowing that they respect absolutely no boundaries, and use methods that I could only describe as psychopathic. Their offe

HurtingAngel, After re-reading your post: Any other executive director might be brought up on charges. As you've already pointed out, this mediator is involved in the HAI program. I don't know that program, but it sounds a lot like LE. It looks as if she is still trying to run the program on you ~ everything she says to you is within the paradigm of the program, (thus her reco

HurtingAngel, My recommendation would be that you stop talking to this mediator. She is NOT qualified to make these assessments, you don't have a therapeutic relationship with her, and that is not her purpose. It looks to me as if she is blowing right through your boundaries and doing you further harm. It sounds as if she is deliberately trying to throw you off-balance. If it wer

I think that another part of this may be that most people are recruited by people whom they already trust, or at least semi-trust, and that causes them to second-guess themselves. If you already know someone, and have previously trusted their judgment, you sort of think, "If so -and-so recommends it, then it must be a good idea," or at least you trust that it will not be harmful. crback22, Yes, it's sick. I just wanted to comment on this part: "They shut down the persons critical thinking by making them question their own intution by labeling all doubts and "alarm bells" as "programs" that society has instilled in all of us." They shut down critical thinking by drowning it out. I think it's a matter of sheer volume. It

"I tried pressing charges but Jason stated he wouldn't support me if I continued with pressing charges... ... the only outcome is that Paul, Mo, and Eve would have to go through training on dealing with traumatized persons before they could serve on a team again." In reading this, even in the last part where they give some pretense of addressing it, they try make it appear as i

As you've already pointed out, Jason is not qualified to decide how long it should have taken you to have "resolved it," especially when you consider the fact that his actions in the aftermath aggravated the whole thing. Recovery would take longer for anyone, with that sort of response. It would benefit HAI to have you forego an attorney. To tell you that you may not have repre

HurtingAngel, "Pure Love," sounds as if she can't handle any "negative" emotions or feedback. From what I saw in my own LGAT experience, I would suppose that this is pretty typical. They seem to just want to sweep everything under the rug and keep it there. Just remember that this is a reflection on them, not on you. They talk plenty about "honest" discussi

Hurting Angel, I wish we could up-vote comments. Good for you, if you did. I don't feel comfortable giving out my location. One thing that I HAVE done is to contact a cross-section of people in different fields. I ask them to keep certain information. Then, if anything happens to me, I will have at least left a trail of bread crumbs.

crback22 I would venture to guess that most of us want a solution. I know that I do. These people are very slippery, and cases can be hard to prove in court, though a few have won lawsuits. Getting them shut down doesn't seem to be so easy, or people would have done it. What would you suggest?
