QuoteI'm curious...how did they explain the scientology connection to followers? Did they admit that some of Werner Erhard's "program" material was adopted from scientology? (The "Communication Course" is still, reportedly, almost identical to the original offered by the Co$ and wasn't a separate course until recently.) I remember at the introduction I went t

One piece of jargon that was used (and is still used) alot is the "being unreasonable". Landmark uses this in a very unresponsible and unethical manner in my opinion. Landmark defines being unreasonable as stepping up and doing something when you could find a reason not to so you are not finding a reason. It is used often in conjuction with "I want you to be unreasonable w

QuoteIt's sickening how much these scammers are able to control people who actually believe they should "honor" their ~agreements.~ They use the people who are the most honest, even though THEY feel no such obligation. Do you really think they are "honest" about where the money goes and who gets what? These are con artists. They don't care about ~agreements.~ ~Agreem

I was on staff and I have seen the annual reports. I am aware of how the money works but its more once I am out that I understand more. When I was working there I didn't look at things in the same way I do now. I remember at a staff conference when some legal agreements were given to us, we were told to get them checked by legal representatives but I don't know of a single person w

But they say the company is owned by the employees who can not own more than 3%. How is it structured then that guys like Schreiber, Rosenberg etc. end up with the money? Does anyone have solid proof or inside information? Like an ex-staffmember or something? I can confirm that that is accurate, staff members own the company with no one owning more then 3 or 4 % it used to be 2.5 but it chang

I think it would be great if there was regulation but in reality I can't ever see groups like Landmark ever agreeing to this. Really for regulation to ever work, goverments would have to do the regulating and make the applicable laws and consequences of companies breaking them. I can't see self regulation working because they wouldn't have to join similar to say for example b

Thanks for the links ajinajan but what landmark is doing is not considered illegal in my country. In fact unemployed are given the suggestion of telling a company they will volunteer to get experience. America is really the country that needs to be hit. You hit there and you impace world head quarters for Landmark and that is when you will see worldwide change

Elena, i think you have a valid point, some of the subjects in the forum are helpful but these are the things you can get else where. Its the language changes and more hidden stuff that is the dangerous stuff. Once they can get one little hook into you, then they can start stuffing more and more of the language and the "technology" into you. QuoteOne thing that the forum lead

I forgot all about that nettie, we had the same a minimum of five conversations about landmark a day. It drove me to despair at one point because I had to keep putting on my integrity form that I hadn't done it so I broke my promise yada yada yada. Its amazes when I look back at all the stuff we did and how we let them push us like they did and how we let them talk to us. I don't

QuoteWhat I'm wondering is - Why haven't more of them either made their own official individual complaints to the United States Federal Department of Labor in order to reclaim backwages for all of their volunteer unpaid hours (because they are legally entitled to them) and/or filed a class action lawsuit together? I can only speak for myself but to be honest I was so glad to get away

Quoteas far as I know LEBD is strongly connected to LEC, impressive record of clients, also scary LEBD is a subsidery of Landmark Education. Many of the "consultants" who work for LEBD also either volunteer with landmark or are course leaders. I know when I was on staff, we were given a brief overview of what LEBD does, whether its true or not I couldn't say but what we

Many hotels are used for these courses, I know we used to before we moved offices and got premises big enough to hold the programmes on site. I have to agree with jack though, many hotels would put monetary gain before any personal ethics. They would really only refuse those organisations that are known cults even then they may not. As far as the hotel is concerned as long as they are p

I can assure you he hadn't lied to you about the cost, the tuition cost is only applied to participants who haven't had to travel and the cost in nz was $125.00. As for the hours and committment it is huge. When I did ILP it was friday night classrooms plus one assisting agreement per week and we we all had buddies and teams that also met at least once per week. often it was more

QuoteI volunteer at Ironman triathlons ...handing out water at aid stations, getting finsihers their medals, etc. Over 4,000 people typically volunteer at one of these races, yet the company that organizes these events -- the World Triathlon Corporation -- is a for profit corporation. However, they could never stage one of these events and keep the entry fees affordable without the volunteers. I

QuoteWhat about the "employee owned" bullshit Landmark keeps talking about? Has one employee ever seen ONE PENNY of that? Unfortunately that part is true, the staff do own Landmark in that they own shares of landmark education. After a staff member has been on staff about a year and has been successful they are given shares in the company. However as you correctly guess no one h

Landmark loves to get clergy/religous figures in because then they can use these to intice others. If someone has a concern that it might pull them away from their religon then the landmarkian can pull a "religous name" out of the hat and convince them that landmark is not against their religon. They offer to pay for those clergy who don't earn an income as such, such as nuns o

QuoteIf people have been "pushed" into that by Landmark, and you have some evidence of it, Landmark can get into BIG BIG trouble for that. Walmart got into serious trouble for some managers forcing people to "punch out" but keep working, so no OT would be paid. Landmark obviously does that by making their employees work OT without being paid OT. If this happened to you

QuoteWhat status is a volunteer given with LE? This is an apparent technicality under which a "volunteer" and "an unpaid employee" can or can not be utilized legally. QuoteHow do they get by with the term 'VOLUNTEER' for a FOR-profit organization?? I don't get that. I can see 'intern' but even interns have laws associated with them, don't they? They don't call them volunteers, they are people who are registered in the assisting programme. The "volunteers" don't pay to do the programme, they assist around the

QuoteI'd say my forum was a 'failure' for Cathy Eliot, only 160 people did the forum, and 110 the follow up seminar. Friends of mine who were assisting were surprised at the low numbers. Every course has statistics to meet, and whether or not they are met gives the overall success of that course. A course that met all the stats was sucessful or "a home run" Some of the statistics that are measured are seminar registrations, I can't remember exact numbers any more but from memory its something like 95% of participants will register into a seminar then there

And perhaps that would be the beginning of a mass exodus of volunteers, if enough people did not sign up, business would start to fall off. If enough volunteers and employees felt dumped on enough, perhaps they would start job-hunting. If they saw how a simple bit of Landmark "technology"

QuoteJust a quick reply, I'll go into more detail when I have time. I did the forum in Melbourne Australia in July this year. There was no abuse from the leader to any participant, just prodding and cajoling when necessary. The forum started at 9am, the breaks were at about 11.30am , 2.30 PM, for 20 minutes each, and then at 6.30 pm for an hour and a half. There were many restaurants and

excaliber that is not quite accurate, each centre manager has discretion to give out "scholarships" and after 9/11 they offered New York police and fire fighters free tuition. It is not a global policy to give police and fire fighters free tuition. However like you say it is very good way of free advertising
