Saw the movie 'Jesus Camp" last evening. ouch! Went to the core of brainwashing.... same methods different veneeer. Those poor children. It takes years to undo. Arouse a hyper-emotional state, then blend guilt w/ lovebombing, deep emotional connection and exclusivity, a higher life purpose, with just the tiniest idea of violence. shudder.

Thank you, counselor, for the interesting link. My concern is damaged psyches of children who survive indoctrination as in "JesusCamp." It will take years of adulthood to untangle.

QuoteHopeDr. Phil might be opening eyes to the prevalence of cults in America, but he is doing nothing to help people involved. The program and forum feed the myth that needy, weak people "join" cults. Sounds like he's causing more harm than good! Dr. Phil is about sensationalizing issues anyway, for his own acclaim. Hope, Great that you post there as a voice of reason.

QuoteRoss Kup with a partner? Preferbly in the UK, but anywhere in the world will do. There are many cults that arrange partnerships for long term or short term involvement. Some are mentioned in the archives of this message board. You will have to dig through through these archives and read some of the literature on cults. See RR's booklist on this site. Are you writing a thesis?

The CIA rumors were fabricated by our fearless leader. Kept us feeling paranoid. It was his way of getting rid of people that knew-too-much. For example, a few old friends of mine were publicly told by MMY "OK, Jeff, go back to the CIA now. You know there's nothing here for you." They were then escorted out by the German guards, and put on a bus to the airport. This happe

Hi Rose: The murder is glossed over as the individual (murderer) was 'unstressing'. Or, the admissions requirements weren't strict enough, have to watch him more closely. Or, he was not following 'the program' appropriately. If he followed PROGRAM as dictated, then he wouldn't have unstressed so uncontrollably. After all, look at all the scientific studies

Gangaji spent a short time in India. I don't remember what her former name was - can probably search for it online. She took the name Gangaji either while in India, or upon returning. She returned from her short sojourn in India as an "enlightened being. " She teaches others not to follow teachers, but to listen to their inner guidance. Her presence is staged with calming mus

Hello Lucas: Good topic for journalism! Thank you for taking this on. My 22 y.p. son was pressured by his boss, during a college internship evolving into a career position, to take LE. Quotemidonov123 To anyone in this community, how can we explain these psychotic episodes and mental breakdown following participation to LGATs? If this is documented, why can't we stop this nonsense? The psychotic breaks occur when a person simultaneously succumbs and resists the brainwashing. The person who succumbs fully commits to the LGAT (or other cult). Those who maintain a shr

Another great post, mid! BTW, regarding skeptical participants - they don't mind losing skeptical participants. They want to avoid skeptical participants. They target those in time of need, seeking help, and less skeptical. Yes, Quantum Healing.. Chopra's stealing from TM-physicists..over a disagreement about publication royalites w/ Maharishi. QuoteEther Dragon C'mon, this is really simple. The whole purpose of all the philosophy and gobblety gook that the Forum leaders spew is simply to keep people sitting in their seats and listening. In order for the LGAT to work, people have to be exposed overtime. Yes, it's the exposure and control over time - not merely playing a movie. The playing of movies in the seminar is care

Midonov, Once again, you understand and explain this mind-mess so eloquently! Yes, FYI, the history behind Quantum Physics as a physical expression of the power of our mind/counsciousness began with the Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement, through Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's promotion of this method to unify our brain waves through TM. According to the teachings, we mortals could br
