Hi DL! Sane person here letting you know that you totally nailed it here. My parents were heavily involved in est when I was growing up and only now am I piecing together the damage it did to our family (and me) over the years. Why only now? Because the first rule of est was not to talk about est. I had to find out by asking non-est family members what the hell happened after my dad passed away.
