Quoteshakti"Its doubtful this is about "friendship". There is solid information that some visitors to the Guruphiliac blog were referred to The Work coaching through this BK Insider, and then to Byron Katie School LGAT. Is there a commission there of any sort? " -What's your source on this? At this point, you are just flying off the handle and making up conspiracies.

QuoteeduardoHi Jeanne, Here's the answer to your question. A few days ago Katie put a link on her website about some event that Eckhart Tolle and Oprah are putting together in a "webinar" format. Today I was curious about it and went on to Oprah's site to check that out. After that, I typed on Google the terms "Eckhart Tolle Byron Katie" just to see what would

Eduardo: "Somehow I landed today on the Rick Ross forum and encountered this thread on Byron Katie and Eckhart Tolle. I decided to offer my two cents." Somehow? Exactly how? Or a ballpark "how". Am particularly curious since you are an apologist for Byron Katie's "Work". And, it would seem, a "Certified Facilitator", as there is an Eduardo list

Today I found the following bit of wicked humor re the New Age, entitled "12 Steps For Recovering New Agers": While I don't think I'd go as far as the author in denouncing ALL things New Age, I certainly found myself nodding in agreement A LOT!

QuoteOwhhh boy!!!! I can totally relate to that and that's my experience too. Not only do I now think it was all wishful thinking, but I also used to think I was either inadequate or lacked some deep spiritual essence. It seemed as if all these people were having all these wonderful insighful experiences and growing spiritually all over the place, while I seemed to get nowhere and never

QuoteHaving seen it from the inside we can seriously mock New Agers Gawd, yes! I really enjoyed the skewering of Doreen et al. that went on in one of the blog links above. Mostly because it rang so true! Over the holidays I got myself a secondhand copy of Healing With The Fairies and had some good laughs over it. Although I had to skip over A LOT of silly B.S. in the form of alleged fairy w

Excuse me, Counselor47... Please be careful when you quote people! I did NOT say the following, as you claim in your post: Quotethis woman taps into demonic forces to further her career. I have seen her for years. Ask Bob Larson, a professional minister, who has been coming against this stuff for over three decades. That quote was made by someone called "GGWO story" - and it so

After some consideration, I've decided to share some things about Doreen Virtue that I experienced, for the most part, directly. Here goes... I became a Certified Spiritual Counselor (aka "CSC") upon completing just three weekends of training with Doreen Virtue in the late 1990's. To say that the training was superficial is an understatement. Interestingly, after

Hi Kath! Thanks for highlighting the info on the fraud conviction! I hadn't read all of the site content yet, so now I will go check out that article. :) Regards, Jeanne P.S. I just heard back from my friend "Chris" and he has given me permission to post something about that "virtuous" personality we were discussing not long ago. I just have to write so

I just came upon the following tragic story of a teenage girl's death in connection with an obsession with Eckhart Tolle's book, The Power of Now: Quote"Now" You're Dead As often happens, tragedy turns into a lesson. Although in this case, it's a profoundly painful one, because I know the victim's mother. According to Crime Library, 17-year-old Brianna Wil

Ugh. Until now I'd nearly forgotten my former participation in Robert Fritz's "technology" -- which he was calling "DMA" at the time. After attending a big workshop with Fritz (which I can't recall much about now), I joined a group led by someone trained in his method and got all excited about "creating my reality." The leader boasted that after do

QuoteI was a member of Sharon Gans' group for nearly 9 years from 1988 to 1997. I would very much like the opportunity to speak with other former members of this group. Hi Richard, I was a member of the Gans group for less than a year in 1985. The main reason I left was that a fellow member of the group I'd become friends with had a breakdown in my apartment while we were doing some r

Psychic Junkie: A Memoir is a wonderful book by Sarah Lassez and Gian Sardar, which might be of interest to others in this forum. I really enjoyed it. She's sure she's found him in Wi

But I wasn't sure which category to post it in... until I found this thread, so I will share it here, and also under its own thread. Kath, I did think of PM-ing you. But I thought I read somewhere that you have to have a certain number of posts under your belt before you can use PM here. (Unless that is from another message board I frequent?!) Do you know anything about this? P.S. I believe this will be my tenth post -- in case ten is the number of required posts before PM-ing!

Kath, as a former member of Doreen's stable of "practitioners," I am rather hesitant to say anything about what I've heard -- mainly because my username here could reveal my identity to Ms. "Virtue" and I wouldn't want to get hit with a lawsuit! That said, I feel safe in revealing just a few things that I believe are public knowledge. First is that Doreen is

Wildswan, I agree that "Dr. Doreen Virtue is exploiting people who need more help than an angel board." Years ago I trained with Doreen to become an "Angel Therapy" practitioner. It wasn't long before I realized that the brief and superficial training she'd provided barely prepared me to effectively deal with the rather troubled people who contacted me for assi

Oh! I'm so glad to learn that someone has already posted a link to the wonderful article referenced above, written by former New Ager Karla McLaren. I read Ms. McLaren's article some time ago and then remembered it recently -- when a friend began touting a particular New Age guru's ideas to me. (No thank you, my friend. Been there, done that, and still recovering from it!)
