The question of Liberation Theology would be a digression, but I had to mention it as an important peripheral point. Now, to quote David Romo, the Santa Muerte "High Priest", in 2005: "Cult spokesman David Romo Guillén, who styles himself as a bishop, declared that his group "The Mexico-US Tridentine Catholic Church" or "The Traditional Catholic Mex-USA Church&

Here is a link to a news story about David Romo, the so-called "High Priest" of Santa Muerte. Now, if what all the propaganda in the Anglo literature online were true, that Santa Muerte is nothing more than an indigenous folk-practice, it would not have a so-called "High Priest" named David Romo. What is very interesting about this is the way it is connected to Bran

Oerlikon, are you Catholic ? Has your school, family or neighborhood been affected by this cult? Is there a reason for posting those links? Your links are very interesting but please allow us Catholics the ability to use this forum to discuss our experiences. There are millions of links with information about Santa Muerte, it is not my purpose to entertain people with isolated links. If you h

First of all, before getting into the subject here, PLEASE DO NOT POST UNLESS YOU HONOR THE PURPOSE OF ROSS FORUMS. That purpose is to discuss cults and how they have affected YOU directly, either by damaging you or damaging loved ones, directly. Discussing larger political issues such as pro-life marchers or groups you have read about for your own entertainment is not the purpose of these f

The kind of therapist who would most likely be able to help you would be practicing "cognitive therapy", but you should learn enough about it so that you can question a therapist to make sure they really do it and are not just using the term as a buzz-word. Your first session with any therapist should not be "therapy" at all, but should be a frank discussion of the paramete

Instead of engaging in infantile personal assault, are you able to refute that citation, shakti? This board is about CULT damage to the individual human being's ability to think clearly. Attacking people with mockery without even attempting a logical or factual refutation of their statements is an example of how cult-damaged minds work. Such minds have lost the ability to examine sta

Shakti, this forum is about the IMPACT OF CULTS on PERSONS. Have YOU been damaged by TFP? Have YOU been recruited into a cult that either used Catholic imagery or exploited Catholic activities in order to deceive you and then subject you to mind-controlling tactics? POLITICAL ACTION, WHETHER RIGHT OR LEFT WING, IS NOT CULT No matter how much you disagree with a point of view, shakti, gue

CESNUR is clearly off the radar as far as Catholic belief is concerned. I think it is identified with Catholicism only because of common ethnic/national connections. TFP, on the other hand, includes a lot of perfectly fine material except that the emphasis on "Property" might carry it in a direction away from the larger Church, but it is only a "cult" in terms of this forum i

shakti, you are twisting my words. I did not say Jews attacked people. I did say Roselle Chartock ran the program teaching active stereotyping of blue-eyed blonds with Hitler's Nazis in the schools in that town. I did say there were assults on people who fit the profile Roselle Chartock targetted, which were all blue-eyed blond or light-haired people. The assaults are well-documented. T

This link has no category, but if we consider that cults exploit social stress when pulling recruits, should we be looking for new cults in reaction to this strange new world of robotic war? a quote: “We’ve reached a turning point in the history of war, and maybe in humanity,” says Peter Singer, director of defence studies at the Brookings Institution and author of Wired for War , which

a-googling I shall go: Looks like international truther stuff, conspiracies etc. This is from one of the googled links: Critics like Alexander Litvinenko, who was subsequently murdered in London in November 2006, have charged that the 1999 bombings of apartment buildings around Moscow, attributed to Chechen separatists, were in fact the work of the Russian secret service (FSB).2

Anyone can look into the program Alan and Roselle Chartock introduced into the schools in Massachusetts in the 1980's. It was a professional "workshop" style program paid for by federal grants that started out as a claim to teach about the Holocaust but that led the children through the blue-eyed experimental role playing. Here are some links: Mob attacks in the 1980

Besides not being a cult, ACORN is also not Catholic. It is a political group that might have a lot of members of Catholic background because, as far as I know, it has a lot of history in parts of the country that are ethnically Catholic, like the Chicago area. But I have never met an ACORN activist in the Church and I have never seen any literature or publicity from ACORN that was religious.

This description of the gays attacking the Repent America street preachers in Philadelphia by blowing whistles is not the first time this happens. My name is Denise Matteau. Just curious here about meditation practices and want to open a general discussion. 1. Do you meditate regularly? 2. Do you have a formal system for meditation or do you just do your own thing? 3. Did you study meditation in a cult or other group? 4. Did you use guided meditation? 5. Do you think the meditation practice was an important part of cult damage or just an incidental asp

There is a natural stage in infancy in which the baby will just watch faces. It does not last very long, but for some reason the thought just popped into my head that maybe what is going on with this "flower" stuff is that they are pushing people back to that brief period in our memories when we were pre-verbal and just watching life, just before we started to learn to grasp things and

I don't know much about Eckhart Tolle but I do know a little about "restarting" life after a kind of pe4rsonal shut-down. I had a good doctor who told me to get out of bed early in the morning (seven or so) even if I felt so bad I intended to get right back into bed. He said to sit in bright light, sunlight if possible or a couple of 100-watt bulbs if not, for at least fifteen m

This is not a cult that uses terrorist language but they use tactics that train people to be willing to inflict physical pain on innocent people as a means of punishing others (offenders are given the choice of being whipped or letting an innocent party take the whipping) and while looking into their online presence, I happened to come across an extremely disturbing set of supportive site-links b

These are "Christ Renews His Parish" retreats that are held in the parish halls as something like adult pajama parties. They are for either women or men. The invitations that are passed out to the parish include a request for a half dozen or so phone numbers of your friends and family who will be called by volunteers while you are in the retreat. They will be invited to pray for you.

Some of this does not make sense. There is nothing wrong with giving vague answers to questions unless the questioner has a right or a need for specific information. Manipulators often try to get very specific information from people they intend to manipulate. Vague answers are sometimes wisely self-protective. Number 6, about logic, does not make sense to me. OutofTransition, we are just beginning to scratch the surface on the question of cults in the Catholic church. Hopefully there will be more frank discussion in more threads and the same family healing process can begin for many Catholics that has been available to some survivors of other kinds of cults. At least that is what I am trying to accomplish now that I have mostly "gotten over&q

That whole theocracy movement is indeed showing up everywhere. But in addressing it, sometimes "less is more". Looking at various mainstream churches and showing how this greed/theocracy thing takes hold in some manner related to a weakness in that particular church can be useful. Consider in the Book of Revelation how the different churches had different characters. It does no goo

I posted a link from Unity in another thread... very interesting site. The manner in which the Church deals with things like the Legion of Christ can be confusing and it is good to remember that the Catholic Church is older than most of the countries within which these groups operate, and so there is a lot of local discretion left up to bishops. Some groups themselves are more monolithic than
