Sorry about the cross posting, but I wasn't sure what section to put this in and I do feel this is really important. Please see the thread about this under the "Destructive Churches" section. I'm really afraid for these people and I want to get the word out.

This "Christian" thing has been going on since the beginning of April in Lakeland, Florida. It is broadcast on GodTV via the internet. And it's growing. And it's getting scary. Many Christians are seriously concerned about this so-called revival when it comes to doctrinal teachings, but what I saw tonight online gave me fresh cause for concern. Someone else's comme

I missed out on the Dyer/Katie CD...fortunately! :-) Actually, books have always been more my thing anyway. Considering how drawn I was to listening to Dyer as a speaker, I'm really glad that I missed his working with Byron Katie or I likely would have been sucked into that as well. As it is, I think my background in New Age stuff instilled some kind of conditioning within me, and I can f

Ah, Wayne Dyer...I used to really like him, but I found his "Inspiration" book to be a little bit too much about Wayne and how enlightened Wayne is. He's compelling to listen to, though, quite the public speaker...someone I should stay away from for a while, although my immunity to woo is strengthening. I couldn't finish Dyer's book on his chapter by chapter interpre

I actually stopped listening to Dr. Oz when a morning news show had him on for several days in a row and the news interviewers were wearing scrub uniforms during the interviews. I thought, "How silly!" and basically tuned it out. I later saw he is one of Oprah's "friends", which didn't do much to elevate his credibility with me, LOL! I enjoyed Northrup's

From chapter 10 of the Oprah/Tolle webinar...An audience member said: "So yes, as I was telling Oprah, it's been really exciting and enlightening to discuss in theory all the different concepts and ideas in the book. And it's been attainable here in this loving cocoon which I live in and my book club members live in. But once you go out into the real world and have real-life

QuoteThe AnticultVery sadly, it looks like Oprah is going to shill for Byron Katie soon, in the Oprah Soul Sham Series. You know what Byron Katie is going to do with this? It will bring thousands of new innocent "minds" into the Byron Katie system. Its going to be a feeding frenzy for the Byron Katie company... That is terrible news indeed. I always figured if BK every hooked up w

Have you read any of the transcripts from the webinars? Yeah, I know, it's a LOT of reading, and probably more than most of us would want to do. I figured that despite my woo allergy, since I seem to be immune to Tolle's charms for some odd reason (my mind and my ego are just not allowing me to "get it", LOL!), it might be safe for me to check out the chapter 10 transcript.

Nice magazine cover, Anticult, LOL! Just found an interesting web page about Oprah's new friend-to-be, Jill Bolte Taylor. Sad thing is, Jill's experiences are going to be used by Oprah and the other woo-sters to reinforce their belief system. And it's all based on inaccuracy. <sigh> The first time I read about Jill, my first thought was, "Yes, but her bra

Interesting you should say that. :-) We were just talking about Oprah on another thread on this forum. There is also a thread about Tolle: This one about Byron Katie and Tolle is quite long and probably mostly about Katie, but I think there's stuff in there about Tolle worth looking at as well that may not be included in the other one. I mentioned this in another thread

Hey, Anticult: Maybe Tolle IS "the main course" after all, hmm? Shad, I only caught snippets of the 2nd TC interview. I was busy around the house and it just looked like a puff piece with celeb endorsements, so I didn't bother recording it. I missed the questions from the audience, but I would imagine the whole thing was carefully vetted. I also used to really like Op

The transcript from chapter 10 of the ET webinars is available now, and I see Oprah's first discussion will be with Jill Bolte Taylor, the neuroanatomist who had a stroke and is now speaking about her experiences. I think Oprah will find that what Jill says reinforces much of what ET teaches and what Oprah is pushing these days. "Our right hemisphere is all about this presen

Well, it looks like the information is out regarding what is next for the Oprah church. Starting May 12, she is going to present "Oprah's Soul Series", in which "Oprah sits down with leading spiritual teachers, thinkers and authors to talk about matters of the soul". This will be webcast on Mondays. And for the summertime, "It's Not Too Late to

I watched Friday's Oprah with the TC interview. With the style of brainwashing that Oprah's been doing over the past few months (or, rather, getting people to do it to themselves), I've been wondering what she's going to do next. I mean, once you wipe people clean, SOMETHING has to go in there. As Anticult said on another thread, "What's the main course?"

Oprah may be claiming that the beliefs she is pushing are in harmony with Christianity, but I don't think all Christians would necessarily agree with her. My brother and sister in law sent me an e-mail a couple of months ago in which they expressed great concern about what Oprah is teaching and how they felt it conflicted with what the Bible says. I don't want to get into a discussi

OK, honestly I don't mean to pick on Oprah , but a while back I was reading various websites and I came across this link, which give a lot of good info and a general overview of the New Thought thing. I liked the way this article sort of tied it all together. I found it helpful in seeing how things got to the point where they are today.

I know this board is moderated and that has got to be a huge job, reading everyone's posts in advance. I remember all the porno posts that were showing up here a while back, so I do appreciate the moderation. I was just wondering what the average time might be for a post to appear between the time you send it and the time it shows up on the forum.

Hi Anticult, I WAS into the New Thought movement, but maybe not so much so that I couldn't get out. I actually started reading skeptics' blogs and this website, especially those threads you've mentioned, about a year ago, and even while I was still in it, I continued to enjoy skeptic websites as well. I found the people to be intelligent and forthright, and I admired their cle
