Quotesquareone What about the other thing? Can Christians be homes for demons? On the other question – 98 to 99% of the Christian world does not believe Christians can be possessed by demons. Neither interestingly do the leaders of Kirkby Christian Fellowship who are roundly criticised in a very popular thread on this forum for being controlling, in deep error and causing people massive psych

Quotesquareone Here I go again.. I didn't ever go to the camps so the only experience I had of anything remotely to do with deliverance at Struthers was in talking to a person- who was really quite a troubled soul, an unhappy person - who said she'd gone to Mrs Gault saying she thought her troubles were caused by demons and was told by Mrs Gault that she was quite sure she had no demo

It is important that people understand - nothing is being said on this forum in relation to the serious financial losses which was not publicly admitted and profusely apologised for by Hugh Black in 1987 – other than (I think) The Petitor's entirely appropriate guess at how much money was lost. We know about all this because the Struthers leadership stood up and confessed once the damage had

Re the school debate: One of the things we perhaps need to acknowledge is that the reasons why Struthers Memorial Church are running a school are genuinely quite hard to understand. The reason for this is that the Struthers leaders have publicly given at least two different versions of the thinking behind the school. The first is the one mentioned on this forum by Archbishop Laud as the i

Quotesquareone but those that I know well or reasonably well from the classroom teachers of the church school I would have no qualms in allowing to teach my children I don't think that is any more surprising than someone not being concerned about getting medical treatment from a nurse who goes to Struthers, legal help from a lawyer who goes to Struthers, or even a nice cake from one of the

Re: Cbarb Being a part of this forum has led me to cast my mind back further and remember days I had long ago forgotten. My own feeling is that the church changed drastically AFTER Miss Taylor became a part of the congregation and, subsequently, a higher leader than Mr. Black. Am I right? Is there anyone here who remembers what SMC was like in the days prior to Miss Taylor's leadership?

Thanks to Rensil for making public this attempt to “clear some things up” in private. Lorna came onto this forum in March 2011 declaring she was “not here to answer questions or to start an argument” but just wanted to tell us all how well being in Struthers was working for her. We would all welcome her attempts to answer questions, or argue with us, but we would appreciate if that could be do

QuoteCliveNot so sure about, the youtube idea myself, might just be seen as yet another case of biased propagandising behind a veil of anonymity. What I really think people here should start thinking about is some form of “out” campaign - and as discussed before on the forum, I would say that a FaceBook group would be a perfect vehicle for this . I think we need to test some of the assum

I think the question Rensil has raised here is exactly right and I agree with all the answers that have been given to it. Why do they not reply? Now we look back and we see things we didn't realise at the time we can see this lack of providing information, answers and reasons has always been a problem. They sent us out but they were never with us. They told us to expect sharing their

QUOTE FROM CLIVE Not knowing the inner thoughts of any of the leaders I think this is probably an oversimplification of what is going on here Actually those of us who were in Struthers do have a pretty good idea what they think. They told us 5 times per week for about 20 years plus conferences. No argument with the general point – few people set out to be egomaniacs. But as you acknow

The post by The Petitor relating to the story of L and M raises some issues which are very important and do need to be answered by the Struthers leadership. The story very well illustrates some of the ways Struthers has sought to control people and has taken no responsibility when that interference results in devastating damage to peoples lives. Hopefully even if there is yet again no answer from

So Clive everyone who doesn't agree with you is a "hypocrite" and everyone who doesn't agree that the Latigo site is a "joke" (which so far is an opinion only expressed by you) is guilty of making people stay in Struthers? Your reality seems to be a very strange place. Perhaps we should take all your "guesses" about what is happening as facts then you wo

Hi Chris19 And thank you for your story which (29 pages into this forum) is a new angle on what Struthers do to people. The obsession with controlling people is twisted scripture and wrong. Then to threaten those who resist that they will never again find “God's highest way” is just sinister manipulation. The last thing it will bring people into is freedom. But the worst part of your

Quote from Clive : And NO - I repeat I am no SMC sympathiser, but get honestly, this Latigo site really does not paint our concerns and grievances here in a good light Can I invite you Clive to resist the temptation to speak for other people. If you mean the Latigo site does not paint YOUR concerns and grievances here in a good light (whatever that actually means) you are free to say t

Hi Concernedmother I'm not too worried about whether this thread is amalgamated or not I was only wondering - I'm sure the moderators will decide what is best. You are quite right about the postings from Out of It being related to problems in the Aylesbury branch. If the posters on the Struthers thread are basing things on assumptions about what happened up north there may be g

Hi Stoic Just to be clear to you and Concernedmother. I don't think asking questions of a church leader is synonymous with mindlessly believing what they then tell you. At the same time I don't think assuming they are going to lie so not having the conversation is particularly healthy either. Those of us who have been involved in the long discussion on the other Struthers

Dear Concernedmother The Refuge Aylesbury is actually what is called Struthers Memorial Church, London on their website. I agree that is confusing. I think to ensure you feel your daughter is safe you should talk to Paiuline Anderson who leads this group and is one of the 6 church directors who control all 11 branches of Struthers Memorial Church. Ask her at least these 2 things: 1 Are

Thank you anonymous43762 for your post and I do sympathise with the desperately bad impact Struthers had on yet another family. I am delighted by what you share about feeling that it may be okay and safe to look at other churches now. You are the 21st person coming onto this forum with similar concerns about SMC. The experiences being shared indicate that the SMC leadership have been observed

Reply to post from Susie 4 April 11:22pm I agree with Susie There are 4 important points this exchange has brought out 1 Let's all remember who the bad guys are here. The Struthers Memorial Church leadership have caused this by ham fisted ministry displaying no evidence of love and due care. They mess people up and cover their tracks with self serving lies to control and manipulate

Dear lovealways Are you sure that that is correct? Could you please let us know when it was part of Struthers and who was in charge of it at the time? No one I know has come across this link between these 2 churches before. Some more information to clarify this would be helpful. And were you yourself involved in Kirkby or Struthers? Thanks.

Reply to Lorna: Fortunately many of us have now found that all of the positive things you describe are also being experienced by us as we serve God in other growing churches. As others have said, when we were first in Struthers many of us felt exactly the same as you before the addition of many extra heavy burdens and extra requirements were heaped on us by the Struthers regime. That

Quote from the Petitor In terms of whether those who stay do so because of any personality types etc, I am not sure I am in a position to answer. My experience was that there were the full variety of people - introvert and extrovert, confident or insecure and form very focussed to very laid back. Some were good academically, musically or at sport and others were not so good. Really nothi

Anon201062 at least has the courage to come onto this forum and speak up for his church - which is more than any of the Struthers leaders have done. If they took a more active role (or perhaps that should be "leadership") in accounting for the more bizzare parts of their conduct then loyal and naive members like Anon201062 would not have to invent excuses for them and blame honest peopl
