Both of the previous posts are such essential messages for those attending TP (or those who have attended there) to grasp. Thank you both for articulating these important distinctions. I hope readers will take time to look over them again and contemplate them carefully in light of their own experiences at TP.

It's a serious thing to call a church a cult. That's why this church is being looked at under the merely "dangerous" heading. People who have seen Turning Point up close and personal have serious concerns, not because they don't like Turning Point, but because while they love the people they've met there, they know there are problems with leadership's philosopie

PS: Regarding the Parody Videos I don't think this guy is trying to promote atheism as much as he is frustrated with self-righteous, self-focused Christians who only serve to strengthen his position by means of their irrelevant self-glorification. I think a lot of people--Christians and non-Christians alike--choke on this aberrance within Christendom.

I've looked at a couple of the "spoofs" on TPWOC. It' makes me sad because this guy is missing the message of the gospel because the message of Turning Point and Pastor Mike is too big, eclipsing the simple and beautiful gospel. I think we almost always get in the way when we try to create a big, "effective" machine for doing God's work. (This guy would prob

M&M has touched on something that has haunted me as a former church attendee and SOMA student: methods of Bible interpretation at TP. This includes regular formulation of "unique" or "original" doctrines or teachings extrapolated from a Bible story, a biblical characters experience(s), or isolated scripture(s) that support an idea. I believe traditional Bible colleges

I could be wrong about this, but I believe Mike and Tony HAVE cut ties with one another on some level if not completely. (Does anyone still in touch at TP know whether this is the case or not?) The problem is that Mike is now capable of his very own version of this model he's been exposed to--a morphed but essentially the same ego-driven, "Master and Commander" of the fastest g

Whew, M&M! Thank you for standing up for truth, for the sake of Christ and the sake of those who are vulnerable and do not yet know better. And I truly hope leadership will take time to begin examining other teachings, self-made doctrines, and practices in light of what you wrote: "Please consider, you have nullified clear teaching for a "spiritual" experience. . . .

Installment 2: Things I’ve Learned from My Experience at Turning Point Concern #2: Defending the ‘Fruit’ of a Ministry Have you ever talked with someone about your church’s ministry and defended or promoted it by saying you were “seeing such good fruit”? If so, what did you mean by good fruit? What examples did you have in mind? Powerful worship? “Salvations?” Healings? Miracles? Demonic de

Thanks for the welcome, Braveheart. I wanted to send you a private message, but your message folder is maxed out. Could you let me know when you have some space. I saved what I wrote and will send it later if you'd like. Glad to be aboard! :)

I guess if you were looking for me to identify a single focus or source of directing focus, it would be Mike and Cyndi, but I believe the focus moves around from thing to thing. Whatever the new exciting teaching or ministry or church plant or mission trip or whatever Mike puts before the congregation. Jesus, it seems, is merely an ornament--His name is mentioned and lauded, His Word is the s

Installment 1: Things I’ve Learned from My Experience at Turning Point I used to attend Turning Point and was considering adding my story to this thread. After thinking awhile, I realized that I would be “recognized” (as I’m sure M&M has been by many). I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all, and I’m not fearful of becoming known. But what I hope to dialogue about would likely be better se
