I would love nothing more than to get her out of this cult. If you have any suggestions, I am all ears.

I've never really thought of her as a perfectionist, but he is an extremely cautious, distrustful person.

Hi all, I have a question for you. It is difficult for me to tell how much of what is happening with my daughter and son-in-law is from GCC teaching or things they have dreamed up themselves, so I thought I would ask you. They are now choosing to not celebrate holidays. Has anyone seen any of this type of thing with GCC or MacArthur followers? Thanks.

I know what you mean about not being able to talk to them. My daughter just argues, as if arguing would attract someone to want to become like them or embrace their Christianity. She and her husband have been "working on" another couple who are unsaved, and this couple gets upset about being preached to whenever they are with them. The thought occurred to me that my daughter and son-

This submission to authorities topic has raised a question in my mind. Does MacArthur advise people about how to vote in a presidential election say?

I took a look at the MacArthur Bible tonight out of curiosity. It has way more notes than there is scripture on each page. So, if one were to "study the Bible," it they would be giving more attention to the notes than the actual scripture in my opinion. She claimed to have made her decision to not welcome me into her home any more based on her study of the Bible, specifically Romans

Gtw, thanks so much for these insights. I struggle with how to love her when the communication has been all but cut off. She is unhappy with conversation about anything other than condemning me. I have tried to keep it on a more cheerful level like discussing my granddaughter, her pregnancy, or what is going on in their lives, but it always comes around to the judging and criticizing of my ass

Many thanks everyone for your help. This forum has been a godsend to me. I will eagerly look for the links on CJ Mahaney and Charismatic Chaos (a book she recommended that I read some time ago). mhbm

Lass o' the Glen, thank you so much for your words of encouragement. A couple years ago, when we were having a not-so-pleasant phone conversation, she stated, "I'm not in a cult." I had not said anything about her being in a cult at that time, and I really didn't think she was then, but I could tell that GCC was having an affect on her views. Is it the right thing to d

I've had the same experience. They are very judgmental, very critical. The joy, spontaneity, creativity, and sense of humor in my daughter is nowhere to be seen anymore since she joined that church.

Another similarity is that she pleads with me to repent, but I get the strong impression that I must repent to her, which would be like confessing to a priest, wouldn't it?

Has anyone had any experience with shunning by MacArthur followers? My daughter has just informed me that I am no longer welcome in her home because of my affiliation with a volunteer organization that is Catholic, in nature citing 1 Cor. 5:11, Rom. 16:17, and 2 Th. 3:14-15 as her basis for this.

My daughter is a member of GCC, and she has turned into a person I don't recognize anymore. I can't even have a relationship with her without her condemning me in every way.
