I completely understand what you mean -- I wouldn't be able to help myself either :) But, in which case, have you considered sending her an e-mail back in carefully crafted Landmarkese, telling her exactly what you think of Landmark and her attempts to enroll you? You could probably crib enough from her e-mails to get the general gist of it ;)

Ditto what everyone else has said. I recall when my lekkie friend first got in contact post-Landmark, he apologised for something that I hadn't even noticed (and still couldn't see even after he pointed it out to me). I kept saying, "There's no need to apologise, I hadn't even noticed, there's no problem there", and yet he kept apologising away. If he reall

Quoteleftcoast8A part of me believes that it's hard for someone like her--who believes so strongly that Landmark can only do good, and conversely, good can only ever come out of Landmark (and nowhere else)--to see good things happen to me while I profess my disdain for all things LEC. Does any of that make sense? Or do I just come off looking like a completely self-important b*tch? That

This is interesting, I wonder what the motivation is? I suspect it's aimed at stemming slander/libellous claims (? is that even the right word? I'm not up on my legal jargon) that can't be counter-attacked. But still, I've never heard of a newspaper for example requiring that its journalists or people who write in disclose their full addresses to the public. It's not

I wish I had been able to find Grizz's post -- I think you tried to point it out to me elena, but I couldn't find it. I understand so completely what he is describing -- it is exactly what I went through! Laura, please keep up updated, and please do everything you can to keep your child out of Landmark!

Are there any legal types on this forum who would know how binding such an agreement would be? I would think that there are some rights that you just can't sign away (ie, you don't know what's going to happen on the course -- what if it involved tying you down and shoving pins under your fingernails? Would they still be immune from prosecution, just because you'd signed this

I think this is a very interesting thread. I've felt that a lot of Landmark concepts can actually be beneficial, if presented with insight and flexibility*. It's the way that they're delivered that makes it so potentially damaging -- because the concepts aren't really there to help the participants, they're used to control them. (this is my view, having been brought up

I can't understand what all the fuss is about with "What the Bleep". It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The "scientific" priniciples are so inaccurately applied, and that blonde lady reminded me too much of Captain Kirk for me to take any of it seriously. And the weird thing is, presented in a better format, I probably would have liked the film. I

Quotemidonov123 So, as you can see, the concept of blaming the victim is not new. And it's against the teaching of the Bible. So, who are you going to trust? The Forum leader or God himself? Well, that does rather depend on the person being Christian, as to whether they consider that the Bible constitutes the word of God. There are a lot of other religions out there. Still, I'l

QuoteConcerned Oz "This woman who had written so eloquently that suffering really did not exist spent the last two years of her life in the blackest psychotic depression I have ever witnessed." aka "A Course in Miracles". Does anyone know anything about this? I couldn't find anything on the database on the main site but it seems familiar somehow. The closest thing I could find is a church that appears to be using its premises destructively, but nothing about the course itself. I came across it (I seem to come across a lot of such things lately. I suppose I'm

Quotemidonov123If something goes wrong in your life, it's not always because of you. There are so many examples I could come up with, but the one I prefer is the book of Job which illustrates that Landmark's teaching goes against the Bible. I'm not really that familiar with the Bible -- what happens in the book of Job? I've actually been thinking about this whole issue

There is information on the Rick Ross site re: SGI. It looks to be borderline cult/borderline LGAT. I came across the organisation recently by reading a novel, "Geoff, the Buddha and me". It's very interesting, and shows how much early training can stick with you... I read the book and really liked it, to be honest. So then I tried to find "The Buddha in Daily Life"

QuoteColdnosesandfluffytails 1. Sociologists have noted how in more collectivist cultures if an individual is not acting all "happy/positive/in attunement" the group will tend to give that individual the benefit of the doubt and conjecture that s/he simply isn't feeling well or has financial or other problems. It strikes me as a far more humane approach than here in the West. W

How bizarre. Whatever would prompt such a "joke"? Especially as it seems that you know next to nothing about the issues involved (if it is true in fact that you have no involvement in Landmark other than what you've read on this internet site). I'm not personally offended, just mystified. I like to understand what motivates people. Why were you reading up on cults anywa

My mother believed in this as well. When I was younger, she believed in it so strongly that she never took any of us to the doctor or dentist. She seemed to have mellowed out on that one as she got older (probably because the evidence before her demonstrated how false it was -- I think part of her belief system was that she could also avoid ageing if she believed strongly enough that she wouldn

This may be a stupid question, but why do you care whether or not people are negative about Landmark? If it's as great as you think, then common sense will eventually win out and we'll all see what fools we were for not jumping on the bandwagon. I'd think really that the best policy would be to take a low key approach, ditch the the high pressure sales techniques, and let the res

This is a very interesting topic. It demonstrates just how grey the grey areas can be (if that even makes any sense). I would imagine that AA was set up purely to help alcoholics, not to make loads of money or satisfy the ego of some aspiring guru. And yet, part of the help presumably involves changing people's way of thinking, and that might involve techniques that could arguably be de

I hadn't realised this about Landmark and minorities. I wonder if it's the same in Europe? My Landmark friend was brought into it by his wife/partner, who is black. But then again, she is also a consultant surgeon and very well respected in her field (ie she fits the thrusting young professional profile -- although she is in her early 40s, not 20s or 30s). I have to admit to a
