QuoteI was involved with Sharon and Alex back in SF, Boston and NY. I liked them. Obsessive; dominating; and yes, probably dangerous, but nonetheless, I liked them. Obsessive about what? You were with Sharon and Alex during their "theater years." Do you mean "obsessive" as in: dragging people off the streets of San Francisco to watch mediocre actors/students fulfill Alex

First off, I enjoy being able to express myself, but, per the comments of Mr. Ross and corboy, this may not be an appropriate forum in which to do so. If so, then I apologize (or I will eventually be deleted, so no harm done). I am not interested in changing your perceptions. I simply enjoy writing. That being said... Hi Moishe3rd, If you were involved with Sharon and Alex in SF, Boston, and NY then that means you have been with this cult for about 30 years. You said you "liked" them despite their "Obsessive; dominating; and yes, probably dangerous" behavior and since you said "I was involved", I assume you are not involved with them anymore. Then the question is why aren'

This thread may offer some material that could be a useful framework for some who feel perplexed reconciling good and harmful experiences they have had in relation to a controversial teacher. One Framework for Recovery from Abuse If you derived real and solid benefits from A.H. and his school, which you have acknowledged as possibly dangerous, those benefits will remain real for you, no

I also appreciate the link to Dave Archer. Based on my experience, he gives an honest perspective of who or what Alex was /did. He seems to point out that he was on his own hook regarding Alex and the Group. He didn't

This article is a SCREAM! It rips on Alex Horn's former Sonoma and San Francisco Gurdjieff teachings and various students and describes how although over 35 years have passed, many ex-members have sadly drifted into insanity and/or remain in denial of the damage that cult has caused them and their children. www.davearcher.com/magus.html

The web site for this organization, the Human Awareness Institute is www.hai.org. It is based in Foster City, California. I've seen ads for their free introductory workshops advertised in the Bohemian, a free weekly paper distributed in the North San Francisco Bay Area. There are MANY cults in the San Francisco Bay area, so HAI could be connected to one or more of them, or it could be

I almost died laughing when I was doing research on the Gans cult after finally getting out, and found that Supreme Court case. God I wish I knew that David's real name was Darwin when I was suffering through his classes, it would at least have made things a bit more bearable.

If you are a student stuck in a group led by Alex Horn or Sharon Gans-Horn, then the fact you are reading this is already great news. It means that you are smart enough and intuitive enough and courageous enough to have begun to distinguish between the ideas of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky and the people teaching them. Whether or not what Gurdjieff or Ouspensky taught is valuable and valid does not ma

This is my first post, so here goes... My parents were members of the Fellowship of Friends in the 80's and early 90's. I was 10 years old when my mom joined and then married one of the groups early members (now my adopted dad). I knew at that young age that this was no fellowship of friends but was more of a cult! I mean putting Robert on a pedestal as the all knowing infallible "

I'm just getting the word around about the various Samael Aun Weor group as many cult watch organizations dont have info listed about him. (if you dont have it already). "Samael's" real name is Victor Manuel Gomez Rodriguez born March 3, 1917 in Colombia, South America, and moved to Mexico in the 1950's. He died on December 24, 1977 in Mexico City. Victor Rodriguez

i was in one from age 3-6. It was like awaking nightmare. I could not always tell what was real or fantasy.I often made things into fantasy, I think to make the pain less. they starved us(the children) and beat us. It was a gurdjieff group I know. Animals were killed. grownups were hurt too.

Hi, If you'll bear with the terrible length of this reply, I can give you some info. I got while researching the insidious cult, Miracle of Love, which also often uses sex to recruit, keep, and control its members. You can check out desctructive cults link on this rick ross site to see pages and pages of details. I can't remember the source for the following info. I copied and pas

I have heard of Anne Haas adopting at least two children (siblings) whose mother "disappeared". This I heard first hand from a good friend of the two children. Haas took over Alex Horn's Sonoma Valley Gurdjieff Ouspensky "school" after their divorce. "The Group" as it is called is a cult and still going strong, although I have heard that she has "retired&qu

Gans & Horn may still be married. I know they were still married as of '96 because I was involved in a "3rd line of work" project - ie: unpaid, unsafe, overworked labor to renovate their Greenwich Village coop, including terrace. Alex made very rare apperances in our "class", and was never introduced to the group. Please email me @ my experiences with David.

Blue, You went to the wedding? What was that like? To whom was Horn married? From my research so far it appears that Alex Horn hooked up to Sharon Kulko Horn (a.k.a. "Gans") in 1969 after his split with Anne Burridge (now "Haas"). But, it seems Alex and Sharon did not marry until 1972, according to the Supreme Court Kulko custody case records. According to an excerpt

What year did you say she married Alex Horn? Or did she divorce Alex marry Kulko, divorce Kulko and then take the name Horn again? I am wondering because between 1964 and 1965 Alex was married to someone else completely different. That marriage was annuled. The other person is a relative of mine. I was at the wedding. Blue
