Rick, thank you pointing out that error..I meant to repost this link but somehow posted ' sinner man ' instead. Cant remember if it was caused by the last glass of wine or maybe it was divine intervention?

It is in the introduction or editorial to the book. ' My name is not Zion' it says and explains that Zion is based on a character called Tsion in Tim Le Hayes bestselling book which Dave contradicts. It goes on ' there will, I believe be truth in this book which you have never read elsewhere. It is my firm conviction that I have been inspired by God as I have written it

THIS IS AN EXTRACT FROM DAVE"S POST on WELIKEJESUS about THE TORONTO HOSPITAL DECISION This is kind of jumping the gun on the ABC documentary to be aired on Monday ni ght's "Australian Story" (when the general public will be able to hear the story of Ash's battle to help Sandi get a kidney, and Craig, Nick, and Kate's efforts to stop it). After nearly

Well said Jack, I'm not too familiar with L Ron but have to agree on the 'shoddy fiction' tag. Yes it does deserve an award for worst book of the year. Hello Ashwyn, With one sweeping judgement, you have just implied we are all paranoid because of a comment from one poster ....or is that comment evidence of a sense of humour? Perhaps you agree that it is a lot of f

Well the JC's do expect to rule the world. They intend to divide it up and rule over different sections. Dave may be expecting this to happen in the same time frame as the Family who expect a major event next year. The Family deny this publicly. They also denied their predictions about 1993 and about the fall of America. Well they will carry shovels to bury us with after they kill

Would he take you back? I think that Dave would have no choice but to accept you. Perhaps he would send you to the JC brat camp for a while, so you could do a Nullabor walk while fasting or something until your humility was tuned. I say go for it! Don your sackcloth and ashes and go in beating yourself with a cat of nine tails! Dave would be impressed with a bit of self flagellation, especially

According to this author you should stay away from them! THEIR PERSONALITY TRAITS: [ size=7]from a site about relationships called 1. QuoteashwynHi Matilda, I understand that you feel that there are strong similarities between becoming a member of the JCs, and being a victim of this conman. I personally feel that the representation of the situation would be inadequate unless certain clear differences were highlighted also. For example: X convinced people to take out large loans on the pretext that he would pay them back

Cultmalleus said Matilda, Those articles are chilling and very relevant. Dave is not quite as expert as Hendy-Freegard but the techniques and responses have many similarities. It shows how emotionally vulnerable people can be manipulated no matter how intelligent they are. Yes Cultmalleus, they are chilling. Emotional vulnerability is a universal condition occurring at some point or other

Quoteapostate I joined the JC's because they were going in the same direction I was. I was interested in their free work programs because I saw that as meeting ideals I believed in. I was not aware of ALL their beliefs when I joined as that would have entailed too much effort. I liked the camaradarie that was represented within the group and enjoyed the appeal to my ego their beliefs th

Good book Apostate. Did you 'join' the JC's? Were you aware of all their beliefs before you gave up all your ambitions and dreams to become a member? OR were you unwittingly seduced and recruited by a glib conman who persuaded you that your entire family were your worst enemies and that the world would hate you because of your commitment? It can be difficult for ex members, espec

I should have added in my lat post that the phone was either engaged or was not answered on the documentary. Interesting that Dave appears to conceed to Jon Ronson's request that Casey inform his mother. Dave was prepared to do that in order to retain good relationships with the journalist. The end he was seeking was some positive press clippings.

Here is an extract fro Jon Ronson's article Blood Sacrifice. Casey is 23, and joined the group only in 2001. Like Susan, they decided to donate after Dave sent his email. I telephone Casey in early February, three weeks before his scheduled operation. "Have you told your mother?" I ask him. "No," he says. "Why not?" I ask. "If she's opp

Apostate, Your interpretations of Dave's teachings are accurate. Following yours and Malcolm's post I would like to add these to the treaty of charges. David McKay encourages recruits to deal with relatives and deter them from speaking the truth about the group to the press. In many cases, this has involved recruits being used in strategies including emotional blackmail of clo

Some say that the five defining characteristics of a destructive cult are : 1.) a leader demanding total authority, 2.) the use of "controlling" techniques, 3.) social and physical isolation, 4.) extreme or fanatical behavior, and 5.) secrecy and deception. A critical examination of the Bahai Faith would probably show that it does not display many, if any, of these characteristics, alth
