Saw an interview on an early news show this a.m. with the friend of one of the deceased. The friend is an orthodontist, trained in emergency care. They ignored her offer to help when she saw resuscitators showing signs of fatigue after performing compressions for 15 minutes. The interview was heart-breaking. She was very tearful in describing how abandoned she and others felt by Ray, who never

Some others who were banned were either in training to be counselors or counselors of some type, just not in the US. She does seem to be threatened by this. Back when I used to post, I hated seeing people shaping their opinions and thoughts to go along with hers or forum rules, or majority religious following. This is what they did in abusive situations and then had to conform to the forum. No

Psych-damage, What blew me away, and still does, is the amount of doctors and psychologists who are into LE. Talk about breaking the oath! It's not only the alternative docs like naturopaths (LE is very big on Bastyr University's campus) but also mainstream ones. Age has nothing to do with it.

It can also be very difficult to know, unless you know enough to ask, if your therapist is using LGAT/pseudoguru techniques and ideas. My doctor, working out of the office of a department head of a major hospital, was up to his eyeballs in Landmark Education, but never disclosed that to patients. However, on one of my earliest visits, he asked if I had ever heard of LE as another client of his

Carlos, I think you're perceptions are accurate. However, when I saw Wayne Dyer and Christiane Northrup on PBS, I was shocked that no one at these stations banned this kind of programming. Apparently, the public has been convinced that this is spiritually educational programming but the station is claiming the public is asking for this kind of programming. I picked up a free publica

The National Institute of Whole Health, the school sponsoring this event at Newton Wellesley Hospital, is supposedly an evidence-based medicine/science based school that prides itself on teaching biochemistry and not agenda-based medicine. Yet, they are hosting Byron Katie. The students at NIWH range from massage therapists to physicians. The idea that BK is somehow credible because of the loc

Yasmin, No - you're "two cents" isn't that unpopular. There is a lot of gray area between Oprah-style thinking and science. I've worked in the medical field since 1986 and know many doctors who will not get their kids vaccinated. There is also a lot more scientific research that just isn't published by the big journals for political reasons. That is changing a

WM, I checked out Ratemd also and see that their warning about defamation would probably be quite prohibitive for people with legitimate complaints. Separating her practice persona from that of website owner was a good idea. She's already left a record of her bizarre behavior online. Since several people who frequent her website also have been clients, I'm wondering if that is

WM, What you and the other administrators went through was just completely insane. I know the sweet person you speak of and was shocked to hear the allegations. How dare she. The problem with narcissists (just my armchair psych opinion), is that they can play well within the rules, for instance, she might be a perfectly fine shrink, but her personal relationships suffer, and therefore,

Rob is correct. The concept of nonattachment has been twisted for the benefit of those doing the twisting. It takes away any sense of personal responsibility. I saw this in Landmark as well as in my own personal experience with an alternative physician who was very Landmarkian but also into an eclectic mix of philosophies and therapies, all of which were used out of context and without compass

It is also very difficult because many professional individuals, such as therapists, can be heavily involved in LGAT groups and not bother to be up front with their clients. My naturopathic physician was heavily involved in Landmark Education and it wasn't until I actually went to the Forum did I realize that he had been running a "mini-Landmark" on me. I found later on that

"Are the teachers of The Work liars or just ignorant?" Probably a combination of both, and I don't mean ignorant in a negative way. If BK is listed as a religious organization, which she is not, then she is doing so to avoid paying taxes.
