I think you're on to Landmark Forum, ON2 LF. Landmark employs a kind of barbaric psychology not unlike clear felling a forest to get to a few precious trees. I think that Landmark's views of psychology/psychiatry are similar to those held by Scientology - they think it is suspect and, worse still, they think they have a better, more efficient solution. It takes time and patience f

As this thread implies that Landmark has some (if not, many) redeeming qualities, would someone please list what they consider Landmark's positive contribution to education and/or life management?

QuotemazellanI notice that a lot of people here haven't done any Landmark courses, yet have very strong opinions that 'everything' that Landmark teaches is 'bad'. I'd suggest that before you completely dismiss the 'teaching', you do the Forum. I'd actually like to do it again myself, but this time looking closely at the way they manipulate people.

QuoteEurope-girlYesterday I discussed this with a friend and I think it's important to me to get clear on my way of thinking and viewing life. How much of it is Landmark, how much of it is me? Regarding the Landmark stuff: which things are beneficial, and which not? I know I come across as someone who has her act together and is in control. I also set high standards for myself, and others..

G'day bb, How can you tell? Probably like trying to tell how many employees have the flu at any given time in any given organisation... From my own observations, Landmark is not far from being a kind of virus that creeps into a community or organisation and tries to spread. It is a sad truth that company bosses initiate mass Forum drives only to spread the disease faster and further.

QuoteEurope-girl@Jack Oskar Larm, I like the point you make about breakthroughs. You know, when you say "they're a scam" I understand where you're coming from. But who is the "they"? 'They' are many people and/or entities. They are those in power, with or without knowledge of the whole picture and/or agenda. Corporations like Landmark can get so large an

G'day Euro-girl, There is nothing new or original about Landmark's technologies. Look at Scientology's technologies. But, more importantly, look at the words and phrases used by these organisations. Anyone with half-a-brain can take abstract words like Integrity or Breakthrough and manipulate their definitions. This is what Landmark/Scientology do in order to control you and

QuoteEurope-girlThe thing about breakthroughs is that the more you get involved in Landmark, the less interest you get for breakthroughs in your personal life, or your personal life blends in totally with Landmark. Then it's all about targets, training yourself in new tasks within the Landmark organization and having 'breakthroughs' in that. When after all of that you try to refocu

I think more connections between Landmark and Scientology need to made...while googling I came across this: QuoteShow me the money: What a great read this article was. The spirit of George Orwell must have had a hand in this. Landmark reminds me of my short time with Scientology. With good reason, because Landmark is the modern-day version of Werner Erhard's EST. Thanks Apostate, Some truly shocking stuff happening at JC HQ. It's amazing how sick a forum can become when it's run by genuinely sick, sick people. I can only spend a few minutes reading their stuff before I have to turn away in disgust. Dave McKay has a habit of naming people. Why doesn't he name 'X'? So, it's like a military camp. Landmark have their obstacle course, governed by a rigid hierarchy of volunteers...it should be easy for them to get the leaders they want. It could be a cheesy reality TV show - Survivor Landmark.
